Complete three rounds of the full routine, resting 60 to 90 seconds between exercises.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-1-kickstand-squat\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>1. Kickstand Squat<\/p>\n<p id=\"9cfe6278-b561-4e60-ab8d-fdd6feec535b\">The kickstand squat targets quads and glutes and improves ankle mobility. Mitlo explains, \u201cOver time, it can get harder to sit deeper into squats and our knees might start to bug us. This often is because we don&#8217;t properly put our joints and muscles through these ranges of motion.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So this movement will help to strengthen your muscles (the quads) and put your joints through a healthy range of motion to help you stay active with your children and grandchildren.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-2-reverse-lunge-dumbbell-at-chest\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>2. Reverse Lunge (Dumbbell At Chest)<\/p>\n<p id=\"cde4527c-ae2e-4ce2-b950-5ae80fa08705\">The reverse lunge is one of Mitlo\u2019s favourite lower-body moves because it is easily adjustable. She says, \u201cIf lunging down deep to the floor and having your knee tap the floor hurts, then you can modify this by just slowly stepping back and keeping your knee up higher off the floor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"newsletter-form__strapline\">Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-3-side-to-side-lunges\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>3. Side To Side Lunges<\/p>\n<p id=\"3a51ac93-8ef1-445c-a421-4e4e00704569\">This type of lunge targets your inner thighs and quads. Mitlo suggests, \u201cOnly stand as far apart as you comfortably can and focus on slowly lowering down as much as you can. Over time, the more you do this movement, the deeper you can practice sitting into the lunge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-4-alternating-dumbbell-row\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>4. Alternating Dumbbell Row<\/p>\n<p id=\"ae5f306a-8bcc-4b12-b5f9-4d65be1d027a\">Dumbbell rows are great for strengthening your back, from upper to lower, reinforcing good posture. Mitlo advises, \u201cA little tip is to think of pulling the dumbbell back towards your pocket (or hip crease). This will ensure that you are really using your back muscles and not your biceps.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-5-dumbbell-curl-press-tricep-extension\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>5. Dumbbell Curl, Press, Tricep Extension<\/p>\n<p id=\"d6ec4986-d002-4af1-8647-ebcbcb7d9a0f\">This move works your biceps, triceps and shoulders. Mitlo says, \u201cI love this exercise because it only requires one dumbbell, so you can easily follow along from home. It also challenges your shoulder mobility, which is crucial as we mature in our health and fitness journey.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She adds that pressing overhead helps you maintain your full range of motion and strength.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-6-dumbbell-thrusters\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>6. Dumbbell Thrusters<\/p>\n<p id=\"2841cb25-0624-48c8-905e-76a06e2e115c\">It&#8217;s now time for a full-body move that hits your shoulders, quads and core. Mitlo says, \u201cThis movement is done by holding a set of dumbbells up on your shoulders, sitting down into a squat, pressing up to standing and then completing a shoulder press overhead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-7-glute-bridge-chest-press\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>7. Glute Bridge Chest Press<\/p>\n<p id=\"5729c265-1713-4fd0-825f-9da5c7c01bf3\">To round off the first set, you will work the glutes, core and chest. Mitlo advises, \u201cIf you ever get shoulder pain while doing chest presses, keep your arms at a 45-degree angle.
