{"id":919087,"date":"2026-10-03T13:10:12","date_gmt":"2026-10-03T13:10:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/919087\/"},"modified":"2026-10-03T13:10:12","modified_gmt":"2026-10-03T13:10:12","slug":"hometown-fighter-willing-to-fight-manny-pacquiao-on-tyson-fury-vs-anthony-joshua-card","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/919087\/","title":{"rendered":"Hometown fighter willing to fight Manny Pacquiao on Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua card"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While the reported Shakur Stevenson opportunity has seemingly fallen by the wayside, <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/manny-pacquiao\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Manny Pacquiao<\/a> could nonetheless still feature on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua.<\/p>\n<p>The 47-year-old has not fought since July 2025, when he ended nearly four years of inactivity and <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/news\/manny-pacquiao-boxes-to-a-majority-draw-against-mario-barrios\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">boxed to a draw against then-WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It then seemed likely that he would face Floyd Mayweather this past September, only for their rematch to be cancelled and removed from Netflix\u2019s schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Still, though, Pacquiao could end up featuring on the streaming platform on December 11, following reports that he may face pound-for-pound star Stevenson at Cardiff\u2019s Principality Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>With Zuffa Boxing promoter Dana White having labelled such reports as false, however, the Filipino has now been offered Joe Cordina as an opponent for the Fury-Joshua card.<\/p>\n<p>The former two-time world champion was supposed to face WBO lightweight belt-holder Abdullah Mason in July, only for an ongoing legal situation to deny him a US visa.<\/p>\n<p>And despite there being a looming court date, promoter Eddie Hearn has <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/boxingscene\/status\/2105702436732076404?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">told BoxingScene<\/a> that Welshman Cordina could move up to 147lbs and lock horns with Pacquiao.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEddie Hearn has revealed he has offered Joe Cordina to SELA [Fury-Joshua event organisers] as an opponent for Manny Pacquiao for the [Fury-Joshua] undercard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe contest would be at welterweight and he has also put forward Conah Walker and Jack Catterall\u2019s names.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Cordina could, in theory, return to the ring later this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/ceqeg288l29o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">he must first stand trial on October 13<\/a> after having pleaded not guilty to two charges of assault.<\/p>\n<p>Walker and Catterall, meanwhile, are respectively pursuing fights with Alexis Rocha and WBA world champion Teofimo Lopez, though neither of which has been formally announced.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"While the reported Shakur Stevenson opportunity has seemingly fallen by the wayside, Manny Pacquiao could nonetheless still feature&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":919088,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[447],"tags":[703,49,48,82],"class_list":["post-919087","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-boxing","tag-boxing","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-sports"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/919087","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=919087"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/919087\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/919088"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=919087"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=919087"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=919087"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
