FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. \u2013 The University of Minnesota women’s golf team finished day one of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in ninth place Saturday. The Maroon and Gold posted a team score of 324 (+36) in the first round at the Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.<\/p>\n

Senior Luisamariana Mesones<\/a> led the Golden Gophers after penciling in a 5-over-par 77 in the opening round of the tournament. The Trujillo, Peru, native is tied for 27th place after meeting par 14 times on Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Alabama sits in first among the nine teams with an 8-under-par team score of 280 after the first of three days of competition. Amely Bochaton from the Crimson Tide is holding the top spot on the individual leaderboard after finishing round one with a score of 66 (-6).\u00a0<\/p>\n

\nJunior Jordana Windhorst-Knudsen<\/a> closed out play tied for 33rd after the first round. She registered a 7-over-par 79 after securing two birdies on the front nine.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lauryn Finley<\/a> carded an 81 (+9) by meeting par eight times during round one. The sophomore landed tied for 39th place through 18 holes with a birdie on hole ten.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Junior Reese McCauley<\/a> shot a 15-over-par 87 after securing two birdies on the day. She closed out the first round of the tournament in 46th place.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rose Solberg<\/a> penciled a score of 88 (+16) on Saturday. The freshman sits tied for 47th place after round one.<\/p>\n

\nThe second round of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational will take place on Sunday, October 4. It is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. CT with live results available via Scoreboard by Clippd.
