{"id":920019,"date":"2026-10-04T07:24:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-04T07:24:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/920019\/"},"modified":"2026-10-04T07:24:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-04T07:24:09","slug":"memphis-womens-golf-sits-fifth-after-opening-day-of-yale-invitational","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/920019\/","title":{"rendered":"Memphis Women\u2019s Golf Sits Fifth After Opening Day of Yale Invitational"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW HAVEN, Conn.\u00a0\u2013 The University of Memphis women&#8217;s golf team sits in fifth place after day one of the Yale Invitational at Yale Golf Course on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Four schools\u2014Harvard, Albany, Sacred Heart, and Boston University\u2014will finish their remaining second-round holes early Sunday morning before starting the third and final round.<\/p>\n<p>The Tigers opened the tournament shooting a 13-over-par 301 before closing the day with an 18-over 306.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman <a href=\"https:\/\/gotigersgo.com\/sports\/womens-golf\/roster\/maddie-smith\/12808\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12808\" target=\"_blank\">Maddie Smith<\/a> and junior <a href=\"https:\/\/gotigersgo.com\/sports\/womens-golf\/roster\/sirichaya-chanpen\/12809\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12809\" target=\"_blank\">Sirichaya Chanpen<\/a> led Memphis, tying for 21st place at 9-over-par 153 through two rounds. Smith shot a 1-over 73 in the opening round before finishing the day with an 8-over 80. Chanpen carded a 2-over 74 in the morning and a 7-over 79 in the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gotigersgo.com\/sports\/womens-golf\/roster\/claire-todd\/12783\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12783\" target=\"_blank\">Claire Todd<\/a> is tied for 25th at 10-over 154 after posting rounds of 78 and 76. <a href=\"https:\/\/gotigersgo.com\/sports\/womens-golf\/roster\/pavarisa-jongpipittaporn\/12781\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12781\" target=\"_blank\">Pavarisa Jongpipittaporn<\/a> sits at 12-over 156 following rounds of 79 and 77.
