{"id":920129,"date":"2026-10-04T09:36:19","date_gmt":"2026-10-04T09:36:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/920129\/"},"modified":"2026-10-04T09:36:19","modified_gmt":"2026-10-04T09:36:19","slug":"rays-freddy-peralta-to-start-game-2-of-alds-vs-yankees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/920129\/","title":{"rendered":"Rays&#8217; Freddy Peralta to start Game 2 of ALDS vs. Yankees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Drew Rasmussen&#8217;s eight innings of one-hit ball is a hard act to follow, but the Tampa Rays have announced the pitcher who will try. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/baseball\/mlb\/players\/freddy-peralta\/e28344cd-b08e-43ec-adcb-f6693203cf82\" class=\"sn-player-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-player=\"e28344cd-b08e-43ec-adcb-f6693203cf82\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Freddy Peralta<\/a> will start Game 2 of the Rays&#8217; American League Division Series against the New York Yankees on Sunday, the team announced on Saturday. <\/p>\n<p>Yankees ace and American League Cy Young favourite Cam Schlittler will toe the rubber on the other side. <\/p>\n<p>Peralta&#8217;s season was a tale of two halves, as the right-hander struggled to a 4.99 ERA over 22 starts with the New York Mets, before joining the Rays at the deadline and pitching to a 3.25 ERA over his final 10 outings. <\/p>\n<p>The 30-year-old has nine career post-season appearances \u2014 six of them starts \u2014 with a 4.32 ERA, 41 strikeouts and 13 walks over 33.1 innings, all with the Milwaukee Brewers. <\/p>\n<p>Peralta made three starts during the Brewers&#8217; run to the NLCS in 2025, last pitching in a Game 2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. <\/p>\n<p>He will face a Yankees lineup chock-full of left-handed hitters.
