{"id":921637,"date":"2026-10-05T15:22:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-05T15:22:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/921637\/"},"modified":"2026-10-05T15:22:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-05T15:22:09","slug":"usa-cycling-announces-the-2026-uci-para-cycling-track","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/921637\/","title":{"rendered":"USA Cycling Announces the 2026 UCI Para Cycling Track\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uci.org\/competition-hub\/2026-uci-para-cycling-track-world-championships\/1LpKNAD7PczreSBFyuyrr5\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2026 UCI Para-Cycling Track World Championships<\/a>\u00a0will take place October 29-November 1 in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, bringing the world\u2019s best para cycling track athletes together for four days of racing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Para Cycling track athletes compete across two divisions: Cycle (C), for riders on conventional bicycles with adaptations as needed, and Tandem (B), where visually impaired athletes race alongside a sighted pilot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">USA Cycling will field four tandems in Apeldoorn, including several returning athletes and new pairings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Branden Walton\u00a0(Livermore, Calif.) and pilot\u00a0Ian Anderson\u00a0(Fort Collins, Colo.) return to the World Championship boards after earning bronze in the Tandem Pursuit at last year\u2019s World Championships in their first international event together.\u00a0Michael Murphy\u00a0and pilot\u00a0Harrison Devine\u00a0will make their World Championship debut as a tandem after impressing at this year\u2019s National Championships, while\u00a0Michael Stephens\u00a0(Colorado Springs, Colo.) and pilot\u00a0Joe Christiansen\u00a0(Lyons, Colo.) will take on the sprint events.\u00a0Current Pan-Am Champion Hannah Chadwick\u00a0(Arcata, Calif.) will also race the tandem sprint events alongside her new pilot,\u00a0Hayley Bates\u00a0(Long Beach, Calif.).<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">In the C classes, Allison Jones\u00a0(Colorado Springs, Colo.),\u00a0Shawn Morelli\u00a0(Meadville, Penn.), and\u00a0Katie Walker\u00a0(Chula Vista, Calif.) will all return to the World Championship boards.\u00a0Morelli\u00a0enters the competition as the reigning bronze medalist in the WC4 Scratch Race, and Jones\u00a0is coming off her bronze medal in the 2026 UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships Time Trial.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">On the men\u2019s side, four MC4 riders will represent the U.S., including\u00a0Ryan Jastrab\u00a0(Apple Valley, Calif.),\u00a0Jason Macom (Colorado Springs, Colo.),\u00a0John Terrell\u00a0(Colorado Springs, Colo.), and\u00a0Brady Hout\u00a0(Ronan, Mont.), who will make his World Championship debut.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">\u201cWe\u2019re really excited to take this team to Apeldoorn for the World Championships,\u201d said Chris Furber, Senior Director of Para Cycling. \u201cLast year we came away with two medals, and our ambition is to build on that performance. For us, it\u2019s about adding value to performance, with every member of the team focused on how they can make a positive contribution to each athlete\u2019s performance.\u00a0Just as importantly, this is a learning environment. With only three major track events from here until the LA 2028 Games, we have limited opportunities to prepare our athletes at this level.
