Popcorn is a popular snack to enjoy while watching sports, movies or binging our favourite TV shows.<\/p>\n
With that in mind, a local\u00a0vendor is there to satisfy that need next time you\u2019re watching the tube.<\/p>\n
\u201cGourmet popcorn is our primary thing. We have 14 flavours available,\u201d said Luc Forest, The Sweet Aisle\u2019s co-owner.<\/p>\n
Located in a covered-in stall immediately next to Soo Market\u2019s west entrance, The Sweet Aisle has been in operation for the past four years.<\/p>\n
Forst co-owns The Sweet Aisle with his wife Kathryn.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe make all our gourmet popcorn at our production space on Wilson Street,\u201d he told SooToday on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Some of The Sweet Aisle\u2019s many flavoured popcorns are especially popular with customers.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur number one is our Muddy Buddy popcorn, which is milk chocolate, peanut butter and icing sugar. Then there\u2019s our caramel popcorn. We make it from scratch in small batches, and then there\u2019s our cheddar and dill,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Forest is the original owner of the Sault’s Cornucopia Gourmet Popcorn.<\/p>\n
\u201cI started Cornucopia in 2019. We sold it and went out west but we moved back to the Sault and started The Sweet Aisle.\u201d<\/p>\n
He and his wife\u00a0recently started selling candy along with their popcorn.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe bring them in from different places throughout Ontario, and we have flavours like fudge or salt water taffy. We\u2019ve also introduced our own candy mixes. We have 11 different candies in 10 ounce bags.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said making popcorn is his passion.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have fun with this. I love creating new flavours. I like watching the reactions of people when they eat our popcorn. I put a lot of care into what I make,\u201d Forst said.<\/p>\n
He also believes in quality, not quantity, when making popcorn.<\/p>\n
\u201cI take my time with it. I make sure I make just enough to sell over a short period of time. I want to make sure you get the best product all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Sweet Aisle is open for business each Saturday at Soo Market, its popcorn also available at Huckson’s Water Depot, Big Arrow Variety, Gas Bar and Takeout in Garden River First Nation and at Up North Convenience on Gore Street.<\/p>\n
As a west-end pharmacy manager, Forest said he and his wife love what they do.<\/p>\n
