{"id":922374,"date":"2026-10-06T05:14:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T05:14:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/922374\/"},"modified":"2026-10-06T05:14:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T05:14:09","slug":"voters-erase-caq-redoubt-of-montreal-suburbs-in-450-ring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/922374\/","title":{"rendered":"Voters erase CAQ redoubt of Montreal suburbs in 450 ring"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 450 area code was once a Coalition Avenir Qu\u00e9bec bastion, but voters in the ring of suburbs surrounding Montreal Island turned their backs on the party on Monday night as every riding went Liberal or Parti Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The political casualties included such prominent CAQ incumbents as Pascale D\u00e9ry, \u00c9ric Girard, Simon Jolin-Barrette, Ian Lafreni\u00e8re and Christopher Skeete \u2014 all cabinet ministers before the election campaign started.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 450 ring, with its middle-class and francophone voters, offered the CAQ a stepping stone to power in the 2018 and 2022 elections.
