{"id":922658,"date":"2026-10-06T10:40:16","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T10:40:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/922658\/"},"modified":"2026-10-06T10:40:16","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T10:40:16","slug":"ebola-outbreak-update-october-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/922658\/","title":{"rendered":"Ebola outbreak update &#8211; October 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By the end of the day on October 4, 2026, 59 new confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD)\u2014including 23 community deaths\u2014had been reported across four provinces: North Kivu (33 cases), Ituri (23 cases), Haut-U\u00e9l\u00e9 (2 cases), and Tshopo (1 case).<\/p>\n<p>In addition, 11 deaths were recorded in Ebola Treatment Centers (ETCs)\u20144 in Ituri, 3 in North Kivu, 3 in Haut-U\u00e9l\u00e9, and 1 in Tshopo\u2014bringing the total number of confirmed deaths for the period in question to 34.<\/p>\n<p>However, 5 patients (4 in Ituri and 1 in Haut-U\u00e9l\u00e9) were declared recovered after testing negative twice for EVD.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/outbreaknewstoday.substack.com\/p\/kenya-reports-confirmed-imported\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kenya reports confirmed imported case of Bundibugyo Ebola Virus Disease<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As of October 4, 2026, the DRC has recorded a cumulative total of 8,603 confirmed cases and 4,148 deaths (case fatality rate: 48.2%). Ituri remains the epicenter of the epidemic, accounting for 75.0% of cumulative confirmed cases and 39.0% of new confirmed cases.
