National Album Day has announced Robbie Williams<\/a> as the recipient of the \u2018Album Icon\u2019 title, and confirmed a special vinyl reissue of \u2018Sing When You\u2019re Winning\u2019 to mark the milestone.<\/p>\n

The honour is awarded as part of National Album Day 2026, which celebrates the \u201cart of the album\u201d and the artists who share their personal stories through the artform.<\/p>\n

This year will mark the ninth edition since the event launched in 2018, and is once again presented in association with BBC Radio 2. It is also organised jointly by the BPI \u2013 the UK association of record companies and independent labels (BRIT Awards and Mercury Prize) and ERA, the digital entertainment and retail association (Record Store Day).<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s theme will be \u201cIcons\u201d, and it has today (Tuesday October 6) been announced that Robbie Williams will be named Album Icon.<\/p>\n

His recognition comes as he has some impressive accolades under his belt including 90million album sales, six of the Top 100 best-selling albums in UK history, and 16 Number One albums.<\/p>\n

He has also received a record-breaking 18 BRIT Awards and five Ivor Novello Awards, and also recently performed his song \u2018Desire\u2019 with Laura Pausini and Nicole Scherzinger at the Final of the FIFA World Cup 26<\/a>, after being named as an Official FIFA Music Ambassador<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He is also a UNICEF ambassador since 2000, as well as the co-founder of Soccer Aid \u2013 which has helped to raise more than \u00a3137m for charity worldwide.<\/p>\n

Williams shared: \u201cAsk any artist, albums still matter\u2026 That\u2019s why I\u2019m happy to be part of this year\u2019s National Album Day celebrating the art of the album, and just how important they are\u2026 AND speaking of albums \u2013 they\u2019re re-issuing one of mine, you might know it.. \u2018Sing When You\u2019re Winning\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

The reference to the album reissues refers to how Universal Music Recordings and Island Records are celebrating National Album Day 2026 by reissuing Robbie Williams\u2019 third studio album as a limited-edition 2LP red\/blue vinyl set.<\/p>\n

That record featured hit songs like \u2018Rock DJ\u2019 and \u2018Kids (featuring Kylie Minogue<\/a>)\u2019, and the new reissue will mark the first time it has ever been released on coloured vinyl. It is available to pre-order now<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s announcement of Robbie Williams as National Album Day 2026\u2019s \u2018Album Icon\u2019, makes him the latest artist to be honoured as part of the annual event. Other album champions already announced<\/a> include BRIT Award-winner PinkPantheress<\/a>, Oscar-nominated composer Max Richter<\/a> CBE, and former Spice Girl<\/a>, Melanie C<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Album Champions in previous years have included Wolf Alice<\/a>, Iron Maiden<\/a>, Nova Twins<\/a>, Travis<\/a>, Kylie Minogue<\/a>, Elbow<\/a>, Lewis Capaldi<\/a> and many more. The event has also been celebrated with a variety of activities such as listening events, live performances, and in-store promotions.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

As for other Robbie Williams news, the pop star will headline Lytham Festival in the UK, and play two massive stadium gigs in Ireland<\/a>. He\u2019ll top the bill at the British Grand Prix in July, too. The dates fall shortly after Glastonbury 2027<\/a>, sparking rumours that he\u2019ll appear at Worthy Farm.<\/p>\n

Williams said in 2023 that he\u2019d \u201cslaughter\u201d Glasto\u2019s coveted Legends Slot<\/a> if he was booked. \u201cA lot of people there have an oblique perception of what I am. But if they saw me do it, I would take their heads off,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Williams released his latest album, \u2018Britpop\u2019, in January. He subsequently topped The Beatles\u2019 all-time record for the most UK Number One albums<\/a> with the project.
