Winnipeg police say several drivers have been issued speeding tickets and charged with careless driving between Sept. 30 and Oct. 4.<\/p>\n

WPS says officers were conducting targeted enforcement and noted that in some of the incidents, drivers were clocked going 50 km\/h above the posted speed limit. <\/p>\n

WPS says four of the incidents happened on Chief Peguis Trail, while one happened on Abinoji Mikanah and the final one happened on Lagimodiere Boulevard.<\/p>\n

The first happened around 11:50 p.m. on Sept. 30, when a vehicle was allegedly travelling 137 km\/h in an 80 km\/h zone. The driver \u2014 a man in his 30s\u2013 was charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) for driving carelessly and speeding.<\/p>\n

Around 12:07 a.m. on Oct. 1, another vehicle was allegedly clocked at 136 km\/h in an 80 km\/h zone. The driver \u2014 a man in his 30s \u2014 was charged under the HTA for driving carelessly and speeding.<\/p>\n

Less than an hour later, another vehicle was allegedly caught travelling 138 km\/h in an 80 km\/h zone. The driver \u2014 a man in his 20s \u2014 was charged under the HTA for driving carelessly, window tinting, and speeding.<\/p>\n

On Oct. 3, around 12:32 a.m., a vehicle was allegedly caught travelling 136 km\/h in an 80 km\/h zone. The driver \u2014 a man in his 20s \u2014 was charged under the HTA for driving carelessly and speeding.<\/p>\n

Just after midnight on Oct. 4, a vehicle was allegedly clocked at 99 km\/h through a designated construction zone, which had a speed limit of 60 km\/h. After exiting the construction zone, the vehicle was then allegedly clocked at 152 km\/h in an 80 km\/h zone. The driver \u2014 an 18-year-old man \u2014 was charged with driving carelessly and speeding.<\/p>\n

Lastly, around 12:00 p.m. on Oct. 4, a pair of motorcycles were allegedly caught travelling 165 km\/h and 170 km\/h. Both riders \u2014 men in their 20s and 30s \u2014 were issued an MPI Serious Offence Notice and charged under the HTA for driving carelessly and speeding.<\/p>\n
