<\/a><\/p>\nWhenever there is rain in the forecast, I am left with the same dilemma: I prefer to walk and carry my clubs, but I also need to carry rain gear as rain can come at a moment\u2019s notice.\u00a0 Rain gear is heavy, and even when it keeps me dry, the material tends to get soaked through and become even heavier.\u00a0 In the event that it\u2019s warm, rain gear isn\u2019t breathable enough, which means I stay dry from the rain, but I am soaked in my own sweat.<\/p>\n
The 2026 Galway Bay rain gear is a godsend that feels like it was created to solve every problem associated with rain gear. For this review I tested the Clifden Golf Rain Jacket, the Nimmo Rain Vest, and the Ayle Pull-Up Rain pant.\u00a0 The gear is extremely waterproof, so no rain will get in.\u00a0 It is also light, stretchy, and breathable, so they can be worn in any temperature and can double as a nice second layer on dry days.<\/p>\n
The style of Galway Bay feels European and timeless.\u00a0 They all have a sleek, modern design.\u00a0 Their pieces come in a variety of colors, all solids.\u00a0 I prefer this style to louder, more pronounced colors or patterns, especially when it is for rain gear.\u00a0 With its high price tag, you won\u2019t be wanting to replace anything for years, so it is best to have a classic style you won\u2019t get tired of.\u00a0<\/p>\n The pieces all have minimal branding.\u00a0 The Clifden Golf Rain Jacket has Galway Bay\u2019s bird logo on the collar and no other branding.\u00a0 If you aren\u2019t familiar with the logo, there\u2019s no way to tell this is Galway Bay.\u00a0 The Nimmo Rain Vest and Ayle Pull-Up Rain Pant both have the bird logo with the word \u201cGalway\u201d next to it.\u00a0 The only place you\u2019ll find the full name, \u201cGalway Bay\u201d is on the inside tag.\u00a0 I like this choice, especially for a brand as premium as Galway Bay.\u00a0 It\u2019s as if they know the quality of the piece will speak for itself. [See Price \/ Buy<\/a>]<\/p>\n Galway Bay\u2019s apparel is a tailored fit that is slightly smaller than I am used to for rain gear.\u00a0 I am 6\u20193\u201d and 185 pounds which makes most golf outerwear too wide in the torso and too short in the arms.\u00a0 In the Clifden Golf Rain Jacket and Nimmo Rain Vest, a Large fit me perfectly.<\/p>\n There\u2019s enough room underneath for a quarter-zip or hoodie, but it\u2019s not too baggy to interfere with the setup or motion of my swing.\u00a0 The jacket and vest have hidden adjuster pulls inside each pocket that allow you to tighten up the sides for a perfect fit.\u00a0 These allow you to really dial in the fit on the course.\u00a0 You can have your preferred tightness around your ribcage while swinging.<\/p>\n The Ayle Pull-Up Rain Pant is the slimmest fitting rain pant I have ever worn.\u00a0 This was my favorite part about the pants.\u00a0 Most rain pants are incredibly baggy \u2013 I feel like I am walking around in pants three sizes too big.\u00a0 These pants fit perfectly over my regular golf pants.\u00a0 The knee is 9.5\u201d wide and the ankle opening is 7.5.\u201d \u00a0 The material is stretchy enough, which makes the pants very comfortable as a second layer.\u00a0 <\/p>\n There are no pockets, but there are zipper pulls where the pockets normally would be.\u00a0 This makes it possible to access your pant pockets, and you don\u2019t have to transfer all your tees, ball marker, and divot tool to a new pocket.\u00a0 The pants come in a wide variety of sizes, with long and regular options in every size.\u00a0 I was able to order a medium-long, which fit perfectly.\u00a0 In previous rain gear I would need to order a large for the length, but then the pants would always feel too baggy.<\/p>\n The three pieces are all made with Eyre Pro, \u201cGalway\u2019s flagship 3-layer waterproof performance fabric engineered for golfers who play through extreme conditions.\u201d\u00a0 This fabric is extremely light, breathable, and stretchy.\u00a0 Typically rain jackets are quite restrictive when swinging, but I barely noticed the Clifden Golf Rain Jacket was even there.\u00a0 <\/p>\n The jacket is so comfortable it is going to be my new go-to second layer any time there is rain in the forecast.\u00a0 It was just as easy to swing in the jacket as it is to swing in my favorite golf hoodie.\u00a0 When in doubt, I will be going with the Clifden Golf Rain Jacket every time.<\/p>\n The Eyre Pro fabric in the Clifden Golf Rain Jacket is rated 30K waterproof, and 30K breathable, both metrics that are associated with top of the line outdoor gear.\u00a0 In the rain, the water beads on the fabric right away, and you can even brush off the beads of water by hand.\u00a0 While these pieces have the benefits of being very comfortable, they do their number one job very well: keeping you dry.\u00a0 The jacket has an adjuster at the back of the neck which can tighten the collar to keep out more water.<\/p>\n Ayle Pull-Up Rain Pants have a zipper that goes all the way up to knee height.\u00a0 This made it possible to put the pants on while still wearing golf shoes.\u00a0 I was initially worried their slim fit would make them too tough to put on while playing, but the zipper is long enough that it isn\u2019t an issue. [See Price \/ Buy<\/a>]<\/p>\n The 2026 Galway Bay golf apparel comes with a very high price point.\u00a0 The rain jacket is $549.\u00a0 I was initially skeptical that any rain gear could live up to this price point.\u00a0 After testing, the combination of waterproofing with comfort while swinging make this a very interesting option as it can also double as a great second layer on dry days.\u00a0 The pants and vest are extremely comfortable while also offering top of the line waterproof rating.
