{"id":924619,"date":"2026-10-07T23:58:12","date_gmt":"2026-10-07T23:58:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/924619\/"},"modified":"2026-10-07T23:58:12","modified_gmt":"2026-10-07T23:58:12","slug":"hometown-health-how-to-keep-the-weight-off-after-stopping-glp-1-drug","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/924619\/","title":{"rendered":"HOMETOWN HEALTH: How to keep the weight off after stopping GLP-1 drug"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">(WDBJ) &#8211; Many people rapidly regain weight after stopping GLP-1 weight loss drugs, but a new Tufts University study has found a way to help keep it off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The findings showed people who used a wellness app or tried a medically tailored meal plan after stopping the drugs regained only 3% of the weight they lost.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">By comparison, people who didn\u2019t use an app or meal plans regained 10% of the weight they lost.<\/p>\n<p>Pregnancy complications linked to long-term risks<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Women who had complications during pregnancy face a long-term higher risk of cardiometabolic and renal conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A study published in the British Medical Journal found that cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and chronic kidney disease are all higher in women who previously experienced pregnancy complications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Researchers said more study is needed to understand the reason behind the associations they found.<\/p>\n<p>New definition changes childhood obesity numbers<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A new global definition of obesity means far fewer children are considered obese.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A study from Murdoch Children\u2019s Research Institute defined obesity using not only body mass index, but also excess body fat and symptoms of obesity-linked health problems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Researchers found that under that definition, only 2% to 5% of children worldwide are obese.
