{"id":924629,"date":"2026-10-08T00:10:11","date_gmt":"2026-10-08T00:10:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/924629\/"},"modified":"2026-10-08T00:10:11","modified_gmt":"2026-10-08T00:10:11","slug":"michael-sequel-gets-31m-in-tax-credits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/924629\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Michael&#8221; Sequel Gets $31M In Tax Credits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/prada-2-michael-early-box-office-projections.jpg\" data-caption=\"Lionsgate, UPI\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/prada-2-michael-early-box-office-projections.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"prada-2-michael-early-box-office-projections\"\/><\/a>Lionsgate, UPI<\/p>\n<p>The California Film Commission has handed out its latest round of film tax credit approvals, with the sequel to last year\u2019s Michael Jackson biopic a big winner.<\/p>\n<p>Lionsgate will reportedly nab $30.8 million in state tax incentives for \u201cMichael 2,\u201d the second biggest sum by any of the 35 films set to receive a share of the $226 million total credits offered in this round.<\/p>\n<p>The original \u201cMichael\u201d received $21 million in credits, and the resulting film went on to earn more than $1 billion at the box office.
