{"id":924773,"date":"2026-10-08T02:58:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-08T02:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/924773\/"},"modified":"2026-10-08T02:58:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-08T02:58:09","slug":"scarborough-stabbing-suspect-on-the-run-after-removing-ankle-monitor-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/924773\/","title":{"rendered":"Scarborough stabbing suspect on the run after removing ankle monitor: police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Toronto police are searching for a suspect in a January stabbing and home invasion in Scarborough who, they say, tampered with his ankle bracelet and failed to appear in court last month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tps.ca\/media-centre\/news-releases\/67064\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tps.ca\/media-centre\/news-releases\/67064\/\">Police said<\/a> they were informed on Sept. 16 that 22-year-old Ricardo Romero Gonzales, who was released on bail with the condition that he wear an ankle monitor, had potentially cut off the device.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Days later, on Sept. 22, he did not attend court. He is now wanted for failure to comply with a release order.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Gonzales is described as five-foot-seven with black hair, brown eyes, and a medium build. Police said he is known to frequent Jane Street and Wilson Avenue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The 22-year-old is one of the two suspects who have been charged in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cp24.com\/local\/toronto\/2026\/02\/04\/2-suspects-sought-after-scarborough-home-invasion-ends-in-stabbing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.cp24.com\/local\/toronto\/2026\/02\/04\/2-suspects-sought-after-scarborough-home-invasion-ends-in-stabbing\/\">Jan. 22 stabbing<\/a> in the area of Kennedy and Ellesmere Roads.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police said two male suspects allegedly forced their way inside a residence and began assaulting one occupant while demanding cash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">When another occupant appeared, they were stabbed in the stomach by the suspects, police allege.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The suspects took a quantity of cash and fled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police arrested the one suspect, 32-year-old Francisco Garcia Arroyo, on May 4 and charged him with two counts of robbery with a weapon and aggravated assault.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Gonzales was arrested on July 16, and the same charges were laid against him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police are asking anyone with information about Gonzales\u2019 whereabouts to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Toronto police are searching for a suspect in a January stabbing and home invasion in Scarborough who, they&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":924774,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[712,49,48,44],"class_list":["post-924773","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-canada","tag-apple-news","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/924773","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=924773"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/924773\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/924774"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=924773"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=924773"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=924773"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
