Pictures<\/p>\n<p>With Skydance having now taken over at Warner Bros. Discovery, they\u2019re opening up the books and seemingly not liking what they find.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/creative-content\/movies\/digger-tom-cruise-lose-250-million\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Wrap<\/a> reports that the Tom Cruise-led \u201cDigger\u201d is set to lose the studio more money than previously indicated \u2013 potentially a massive $250 million.<\/p>\n<p>That number isn\u2019t just the biggest loss for the year or Cruise, it\u2019s one of the largest losses for a film in years, if not ever \u2013 up in the kind of loss of \u201cThe Marvels,\u201d \u201cJohn Carter,\u201d \u201cStrange World,\u201d \u201cThe Lone Ranger\u201d and \u201cMortal Engines\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s almost double previous reports, which had the losses at around $125-150 million, and is still factoring in post-theatrical revenue streams.<\/p>\n<p>The film debuted to just $21 million worldwide last weekend and insiders at Skydance are now estimating the film won\u2019t clear the $40 million mark worldwide. <\/p>\n<p>Insiders for the film claim the budget of the movie was $163-173 million, though an unexpected insurance settlement played a part in that, with about $100 million spent on marketing.<\/p>\n<p>Warner Bros. Pictures also fully financed the film, unlike other projects that often have financial partners.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Warner Bros.
