\n\tSince it premiered in Venice, where it earned a record-breaking near-25-minute stand ovation, \u201cNAZA<\/a>\u201d has emerged one of the most talked-about documentaries of the year. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe bombshell film, from Israeli \u201cNo Other Land\u201d directors Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, exposes what it asserts is Israel\u2019s deliberate targeting of civilian targets in Gaza, using numerous sources from the Israeli Defense Force. But alongside the overwhelming acclaim for \u201cNAZA\u201d from the festival, praise that has only grown as it now begins it theatrical rollout worldwide, the film also provoked a near instant backlash from within Israel, particularly from members of the Israeli government. <\/p>\n

\n\tJames Wilson<\/a>, who produced \u201cNaza,\u201d addressed the doc and the reaction to it at the BFI London Film Festival<\/a>, describing it as the \u201chysterical, vituperative, aggressive backlash from members of the Israeli government and Israeli politicians.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMuch of the aggression has been levelled at the directors, including threats from Israel to revoke their citizenship. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTo have made a film, a documentary film and be threatened by the political elites of your home country, with charges of treason and defamation\u2026 it been very difficult and stressful and horrible and scary for them.\u201d said Wilson, who also references the \u201crabble rousing\u201d that had incited others to make threats. But the directors, \u201care safe and they are ok.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWilson also said that the backlash from within Israel was, in fact, \u201cpart of the film,\u201d citing article in the Jewish American magazine Forward. \u201cThere\u2019s a meta aspect to that reaction to the film that the film embodies.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBut, he noted, the \u201cmajority reaction to the film has been, from my point of view, extremely positive, and I\u2019m personally very pleased at that.
