The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed defensive back Virdel Edwards II to a future contract on Thursday, according to the CFL Transactions page<\/a>. The contract starts after the 2026 season.<\/p>\n

Virdel Edwards II<\/a> is six foot two and weighs 210 pounds. The 25-year-old from Plano, Texas, attended a rookie minicamp with the Washington Commanders in 2026.<\/p>\n

Collegiately, Edwards II spent three seasons at Iowa State University<\/a> (2019-21), with one tackle (1 assist) in seven games for the Cyclones. Then, he transferred to Hawaii<\/a> (2022-25) with 117 tackles (91 solos, 26 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, 23 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 36 games for the Rainbow Warriors.<\/p>\n

In 2022, he had a career-high 50 tackles (39 solos, 11 assists), half a tackle for loss, three interceptions, and eight pass breakups in 13 games. In 2025, he made 31 tackles (25 solos, 6 assists), one tackle for loss, six pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 12 games.<\/p>\n
