{"id":92616,"date":"2025-08-24T02:48:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-24T02:48:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/92616\/"},"modified":"2025-08-24T02:48:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-24T02:48:07","slug":"16-year-old-girl-charged-in-scarborough-stabbing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/92616\/","title":{"rendered":"16-year-old girl charged in Scarborough stabbing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"c-overline b-overline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cp24.com\/local\/toronto\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Toronto<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"b-date-custom__date-item\">Updated:\u00a0August 23, 2025 at 6:07PM EDT<\/p>\n<p class=\"b-date-custom__date-item\">Published:\u00a0August 23, 2025 at 9:13AM EDT<\/p>\n<p>Officers have confirmed that a 16-year-old girl was taken into custody after an elderly woman was stabbed in Scarborough. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Toronto police say a 16-year-old girl has been charged after allegedly stabbing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cp24.com\/local\/toronto\/2025\/08\/22\/woman-in-her-80s-stabbed-in-scarborough-youth-suspect-in-custody\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.cp24.com\/local\/toronto\/2025\/08\/22\/woman-in-her-80s-stabbed-in-scarborough-youth-suspect-in-custody\/\">woman in her 80s<\/a> early Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tps.ca\/media-centre\/news-releases\/63842\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tps.ca\/media-centre\/news-releases\/63842\/\">news release<\/a>, police say they were called to the area of Sheppard Avenue East and McCowan Road at around 1:40 p.m. for reports of a stabbing. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">They say the victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries adding that the teen and the victim \u201cwere known to each other.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/FA4R4HI3LRF5DPIDIDEF6GJ4ZU.png\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/>Scarborough stabbing Police are on the scene of a stabbing near Sheppard and McCowan on Friday, Aug. 22, 2025. (Chopper 24) <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">As a result of their investigation, police now confirm a 16-year-old girl from Toronto has been arrested.
