{"id":926255,"date":"2026-10-09T07:16:12","date_gmt":"2026-10-09T07:16:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/926255\/"},"modified":"2026-10-09T07:16:12","modified_gmt":"2026-10-09T07:16:12","slug":"ottawa-senators-william-eklund-suffers-lower-body-injury-vs-philadelphia-flyers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/926255\/","title":{"rendered":"Ottawa Senators\u2019 William Eklund suffers lower-body injury vs. Philadelphia Flyers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/ottawa-senators\/9\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/ottawa-senators\/9\" target=\"_blank\">Ottawa Senators<\/a> forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/william-eklund\/8482667\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/william-eklund\/8482667\" target=\"_blank\">William Eklund<\/a> suffered a lower-body injury during Thursday\u2019s game against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/philadelphia-flyers\/4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/philadelphia-flyers\/4\" target=\"_blank\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Head coach Travis Green did not have an update on his condition while speaking to the media after the contest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Eklund was injured in the first period of the Senators\u2019 2-1 victory over the Flyers after taking a hit from defenceman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/simon-benoit\/8481122\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/simon-benoit\/8481122\" target=\"_blank\">Simon Benoit<\/a> while chasing the puck into the corner in the offensive zone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The 23-year-old remained on the ice in pain and was attended to by the team\u2019s training staff.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Eventually he left the ice with assistance from two teammates, unable to put pressure on his left leg.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Eklund has appeared in all four regular season games for the Senators this season, his first with the team, and has a goal and an assist.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Senators acquired the Stockholm, Sweden native in a June trade with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/san-jose-sharks\/28\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/san-jose-sharks\/28\" target=\"_blank\">San Jose Sharks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">He skated in 252 games for the Sharks prior to the swap and produced 50 goals and 113 assists.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Ottawa Senators forward William Eklund suffered a lower-body injury during Thursday\u2019s game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
