When asked where he would race if Formula 1 was no longer available, Ocon was blunt.<\/p>\n
\u201cFormula 1. That\u2019s where I deserve to be.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIf I look at the results and what I\u2019ve shown in Formula 1, I deserve to be in Formula 1.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ocon said other categories hold no immediate appeal.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to be racing in Formula 1 in the next five, seven years,\u201d said the 30-year-old.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s where I want to be. So yeah, in the near future, that\u2019s the only thing I\u2019m looking at so far.\u201d<\/p>\n
When asked directly whether he would race in another series next year if no F1 seat materialized, Ocon replied simply : \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n
But he would consider stepping back into a third-driver role, as he did with Mercedes in 2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, yeah,\u201d said Ocon.<\/p>\n
