Ryan Reynolds demanded support from Sony Pictures when Blake Lively was facing extreme backlash while promoting \u201cIt Ends With Us,\u201d according to new text messages obtained by Page Six.<\/p>\n
Court documents related to Lively and Justin Baldoni\u2019s legal battle<\/a> \u2014 which were filed in November 2025 and obtained by Page Six Friday \u2014 include messages from Aug. 17, 2024, between Reynolds and talent agent Warren Zavala, in which the \u201cDeadpool\u201d actor blasted Sony for not publicly defending his wife.<\/p>\n At the time, Lively, 39, was being slammed for how she promoted the domestic violence film<\/a>, famously telling fans: \u201cGrab your friends, wear your florals, and head out to see it.\u201d She was also accused of using the press tour to promote her haircare brand <\/a>and beverage line.<\/a><\/p>\n Ryan Reynolds tried to save Blake Lively\u2019s reputation while she was promoting \u201cIt Ends With Us\u201d in 2024. vancityreynolds\/Instagram<\/p>\n In text messages obtained by Page Six, Reynolds (seen here with Lively) told a talent agent that Sony needed to publicly defend his wife when she was facing online backlash for how she was promoting the film. GC Images<\/p>\n In the texting conversation, which happened after rumors of Lively\u2019s alleged on-set behavior<\/a> began making headlines, Reynolds, 49, told Zavala that Sony needs to put out a statement and \u201cstart advocating\u201d for his wife.<\/p>\n Zavala tried to placate Reynolds, suggesting that other people come forward with positive stories about Lively, while noting that Baldoni\u2019s team probably \u201chave a cadre of things they plan to utilize\u201d to make Lively \u201clook bad.\u201d <\/p>\n In response, Reynolds ranted of Sony, \u201cThey need to frame it the right way! This isn\u2019t hard. The sentence needs to start with\u2026 feels like they\u2019re trying to thread the needle. Michael Kovac<\/p>\n One week earlier, on Aug. 9, Reynolds told Zavala that he was \u201csuper frustrated\u201d that Lively was dealing with online hate after she \u201cdidn\u2019t sleep\u201d and \u201cmissed countless moments with her kids\u201d to make the movie.<\/p>\n \u201cThey should be protecting B,\u201d he said about Sony. \u201cThey can and should accept the consequences of their actions, and lean into the countless and willfully gross behavior before it leans into them. They made a big f\u2013king mess.\u201d<\/p>\n Reynolds added that Lively \u201cunder no circumstances should be asked to clean up this sloppy, cliched f\u2013kstorm.\u201d<\/p>\n A source tells Page Six, \u201cIt is no secret that Ryan was trying to protect his wife who was being targeted by a crisis PR team hired by Baldoni. We fully and firmly reiterate that support today,\u201d a Sony Pictures Entertainment spokesperson stated at the time. <\/p>\n \u201cFurther, we strongly condemn any reputational attacks on her.
