Prakash supports Canada\u2019s efforts to expand economic relationships beyond the United States. However, he cautions that turning toward other markets could introduce vulnerabilities of its own.<\/p>\n

Despite his warnings, Prakash sees scope for federal action to strengthen domestic capabilities. He raises semiconductor policy and substantial support for Canadian startups as examples of possible initiatives, rather than announced government measures.<\/p>\n
He closes by arguing that the disruption could become an opportunity for Canadian renewal.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just have to seize the moment,\u201d he says. \u201cAnd if we don\u2019t seize it, then it\u2019s our moment to lose.\u201d<\/p>\n
