Luke Ford played the character as a 20-year-old in \u201cThe Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor,\u201d which was set in 1946.<\/p>\n<p>As the new film is tipped to take place in the 1950s, Johnston is about the right age.  However, speaking with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.attitude.co.uk\/culture\/michael-johnston-not-brendan-fraser-rachel-weiszs-son-the-mummy-536445\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Attitude<\/a>, the actor shot down that theory and says he\u2019s taking on a whole new part:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a new character, but the film is just returning to its original formula. It\u2019s just like that first film. It\u2019s going to give the fans exactly what they want. Rick and Evy are back.  We\u2019re going on an adventure again. It\u2019s so exciting. The film rips. It just goes immediately. It\u2019s truly an action film. It\u2019s fight scenes and chase scenes and running through the streets\u2026 It\u2019s going to be honest to the original film.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Radio Silence duo of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are directing the next film from a script by David Coggeshall.
