Montreal had three goals waved off during the game, including the apparent winner from Alexandre Texier at 2:37 of overtime. Bolduc, who had a goal disallowed in the second, was offside on the play.

“A lot of credit to the boys for staying resilient,” Fowler said. “It’s hard to line back up for a face-off after thinking you win the game in front of 20,000 people. So a lot of credit to our group for sticking with it and a huge goal by ‘Bolds’ there in the shootout.”

An apparent goal by Cole Caufield was waved off at 1:16 of the first period. A lengthy video review determined that the puck had not completely crossed the goal line.

“Obviously a bit of a special start to the game, that long break, but I thought once we found our legs and got going we played some good hockey,” Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond said.

Another Canadiens goal by Bolduc was disallowed at 7:03 of the second period because Montreal forward Jake Evans interfered with Tarasov in the crease on the play.

“It can get frustrating when you think you have a goal and you take the lead, and the review takes a while,” Suzuki said.

Dylan Larkin drew chants of “We want Larkin!” on his first couple of shifts. The 30-year-old forward played his third straight game for Detroit. He missed the first two games of the season after asking to be traded and giving up the captaincy.

“It was interesting,” Larkin said. “I never would have imagined that in this building in my career, but they’re passionate fans. In my opinion, this is the best atmosphere in hockey and they’re knowledgeable and they love their team. So that’s how I read into it, and after a few seconds, I was just back to focusing on the game.”

NOTES: Fowler (21 years, 320 days) is the fifth Canadiens goalie to record multiple shutouts at age 21 or younger. Carey Price had four shutouts, Jocelyn Thibault had three, and Jaroslav Halak and Patrick Roy each had two. … Fowler faced the second-most shootout attempts (six) without allowing a goal in Canadiens history. Carey Price did not allow a goal while facing eight Pittsburgh Penguins shooters in a 4-3 shootout win on Oct. 27, 2007.

Montreal had three goals waved off during the game, including the apparent winner from Alexandre Texier at 2:37…

[433
49,48,448,82
post-928562","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-nhl","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-nhl","tag-sports
["GET
