WILMORE, Ky. \u2014 The Bellarmine University women’s soccer team spread the wealth.<\/p>\n
And the riches were abundant.<\/p>\n
The extraordinary aspect on Saturday night wasn’t necessarily that Bellarmine posted an 11-0 victory over Division III Asbury. What was remarkable was that 10 Knights accounted for the goals at Asbury Soccer Field.<\/p>\n
That said, the 11 goals did tie a program record first set in 2008 against Oakland City while Bellarmine’s 30 points established a new program record, besting the 28 from that same match. The Knights’ staggering 53 shots were also their most since at least 2008 \u2014 and by seven attempts no less \u2014 as were their eight assists, which tied their helper total from last season’s 8-0 home win over Asbury.<\/p>\n
Freshman forward Katie Paulakonis<\/a> recorded a brace and was the lone Knight to locate the net more than once. The goals were the first two of Paulakonis’ collegiate career.<\/p>\n Also scoring the first respective goals of their college tenures were redshirt junior midfielder Dakota Bramer<\/a>, sophomore midfielder Brynn Severance<\/a>, freshman midfielder Nora Dimmitt<\/a>, redshirt junior forward\/defender Sophie Roebel<\/a> and sophomore midfielder\/forward Sydney Elbert<\/a>.<\/p>\n Additional goals for Bellarmine (2-0) were provided by redshirt senior defender Sidney Rigsby<\/a> and senior forward Lucy von Stefenelli<\/a> \u2014 both of whom also scored in the season opener \u2014 along with sophomore midfielder Campbell Tippey<\/a> and sophomore forward and reigning ASUN Freshman of the Year McKenzie Carle<\/a>.<\/p>\n Multiple Knights also recorded their first collegiate point off assists. Those included junior forward Aly Gorman<\/a>, who notched a pair of helpers, while redshirt sophomore defender Cameron Dye<\/a>, freshman forward Makenzie Simpson<\/a> and freshman midfielder Hope Broadwell<\/a> collected one each.<\/p>\n Carle registered a pair of assists and Roebel added another helper. Redshirt junior Shelby Smith<\/a> and redshirt sophomore Morgan Rose<\/a> combined for the shutout in goal as the Knights won the first two games of the Steve Bornhoffer<\/a> era.<\/p>\n It was a countable game for Bellarmine but classified as an exhibition for Asbury.<\/p>\n The Knights will host Northern Kentucky at 7 p.m. (ET) Thursday.<\/p>\n For more coverage of Bellarmine athletics, follow BUKnights on X (formerly Twitter), Instagram and Facebook.
