Scheffler<\/a>, 29, slammed his wedge into the bunker after splashing his ball out to 10 feet on the par-4 14th.<\/p>\nThe World No.1 then went on to miss the par putt before giving a sarcastic fist pump.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He was then heard dropping multiple f-bombs down the closing stretch as his frustration boiled over.\u00a0<\/p>\n
To Scheffler’s credit, he stiffed his third shot from inside of 100 yards to a foot on the par-5 18th to card a round of 1-under 69.<\/p>\n

While that did mark his 19th straight round in the 60s on the PGA Tour, it was the second worst score of Friday’s second round.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Scheffler, who opened brightly with a 63, has now slipped from second to sixth and he looks on from five shots off the pace heading into the weekend.<\/p>\n
Russell Henley and Tommy Fleetwood lead the way on 13-under par, two shots clear of in-form Cameron Young.<\/p>\n

Robert MacIntyre and Patrick Cantlay then round out the top five on 10-under par.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Scheffler has led the FedEx Cup just about all season having won five times including two majors at the US PGA and The Open.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But with all the points being reset heading into this week’s season finale, Scheffler knew it was still going to be a battle to become the first player in PGA Tour history to successfully defend the FedEx Cup.\u00a0<\/p>\n
If anyone can overturn a five-shot deficit with 36 holes to play, then it’s Scheffler, but Sky Sports Golf’s Rich Beem believes he will need to “hit the reset button” over the weekend if he’s to enter the record books on Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“I think the steam, the heat, late tee times, I think it’s all caught up with him today,” said Sky Sports Golf’s Rich Beem about Scheffler’s sluggish second round at East Lake.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I think he needs to decompress, get back to this family and reset. I think he needs to push the reset button and figure out how he can compete over the weekend. He wants to win this so bad, but he’s tired.”<\/p>\n
