\u201cI\u2019m quite good at acting as if I can see,\u201d she explained. \u201cBut then people think I\u2019m cutting them dead when I don\u2019t smile or recognize them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dench, who much prefers stage acting to appearing on film, did enjoy playing M in eight James Bond movies over 20 years.<\/p>\n
\u201cI loved playing M because it was great to be able to tell all those men where to get off; put them in their place,\u201d she revealed. \u201cYou\u2019re a sexist, misogynist dinosaur,\u201d she says to Pierce Brosnan at their first meeting.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was drunk with power. I also got to wear some very nice suits and pretend I knew what I was talking about and to muck about with gadgets when, in real life, I can\u2019t even work the ironing board.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dench shut down reports that she wept upon hearing she would be replaced in the franchise.<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course I didn\u2019t cry,\u201d she exclaimed. \u201cWhy on earth would I cry after 20 glorious years and eight Bond films? Which, by the way, is one more than Roger Moore, the longest-running 007 to date.\u201d<\/p>\n
Her only quibble was that her character had to \u201csuffer the indignity of being sacked by Ralph Fiennes\u201d before being shot.<\/p>\n
