{"id":930432,"date":"2026-10-12T16:20:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-12T16:20:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/930432\/"},"modified":"2026-10-12T16:20:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-12T16:20:09","slug":"hugh-grant-bailed-on-two-and-a-half-men-casting-says-creator-chuck-lorre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/930432\/","title":{"rendered":"Hugh Grant Bailed on Two and a Half Men Casting, Says Creator Chuck Lorre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Half the battle of saving <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/two_and_a_half_men\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Two and a Half Men<\/a> was trying to get <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/hugh_grant\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hugh Grant<\/a> on board.<\/p>\n<p>But the Notting Hill actor allegedly backed out of the opportunity to replace <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/charlie_sheen\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Charlie Sheen<\/a> in the CBS show following his 2011 departure amid his public downfall and addiction battle, according to series creator Chuck Lorre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had several meetings with Hugh Grant,\u201d Lorre told E! News in an exclusive interview, \u201cand Lee Aronsohn and I, my partner on that project, wrote several scenes to show him what we thought might be a character that he would play\u2014very much like a Hugh Grant type of character.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Plus, as Lorre noted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/story\/chuck-lorre-sitcom-book-charlie-sheen?srsltid=AU7gw4UE6I19gH5ej6nCVM7IhNiQpKsaPAXei_JY0E6Vbvnkdigcd7SH\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in his new memoir<\/a> Sitcom, out Oct. 13, CBS and Warner Bros. offered to provide Grant $750,000 an episode and a four-day work week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And Lorre told E! that Grant was \u201con board for a moment,\u201d until he wasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen it came time to sign a contract and proceed, he bailed. He just bailed,\u201d he continued. \u201cI&#8217;ve never spoken with him since that time.
