Cerulli expects US$124 trillion to move through US estates by 2048, including US$105 trillion to heirs and US$18 trillion to charities.

The commercial risk lies in whether firms retain those assets. Younger investors expect real-time information, broader investment choice and a mix of human and digital support. Many also intend to reconsider the advisers inherited with family wealth.

Yernazarov argued that AI can help firms respond by joining client, portfolio and market information in one operating layer. Investbanq applies that approach through a modular wealth platform and six specialist co-pilots for advisers, analysts and clients.

Key Takeaways

A Large Transfer Is Approaching: Cerulli projects that US$124 trillion will pass through US estates between 2024 and 2048.
Retention Falls Across Generations: The presentation cited 43% of heirs planning to change adviser after inheriting, making the next generation a material retention risk.
Client Expectations Are Changing: Younger investors want growth assets, private markets, digital interaction and current portfolio information.
Mass Affluent Clients Remain Underserved: An estimated 43 million US households hold about US$21 trillion but often sit between retail and private-banking propositions.
AI Is Moving Into Daily Workflows: Firms are applying it to research, personalisation, portfolio analysis, risk management and administration.
Legacy Systems Limit The Response: Batch processing and rigid data structures struggle with alternative assets and unstructured information.
One Data Layer Can Join The Process: A common intelligence layer can connect onboarding, portfolio data, research and client communication.
Purpose Built Tools Beat Generic Automation: Investbanq separates six co-pilots by task while allowing them to work across one platform.

Wealth Transfer Changes the Client Relationship

The US$124 trillion forecast includes an estimated US$54 trillion expected to pass first to spouses before moving to the next generation. That sequence gives wealth managers two retention tests rather than one.

The presentation put adviser retention at 72% when a spouse inherits, while separate estimates were roughly 45% to 50% when assets reach the next generation. Inherited relationships become less secure as wealth moves further from the original client.

“The boomer generation was largely focused on preserving capital,” Berik said. “The next generation wants to create wealth, use a broader range of assets and see what is happening in real time.”

The Mass Affluent Opportunity

The gap is especially visible among mass affluent investors. The presentation estimated that 43 million US households in this segment hold about US$21 trillion. They outnumber ultra high net worth (UHNW) households by almost nine to one, yet many are too small for a traditional private bank and dissatisfied with a standard retail service.

Digital advice has already shown that investors will accept technology in portfolio delivery. Robo-adviser assets grew rapidly as access improved, even though rules-based automation is different from generative AI. For Berik, the next step is to combine that convenience with more tailored investment support.

AI Moves from Pilot to Infrastructure

AI adoption is moving beyond isolated experiments. Berik cited surveys showing asset managers adopting automation and US advisory teams using internal AI platforms in daily work.

Useful applications include preserving institutional knowledge, preparing research, personalising communication and removing administrative work. “The objective is not to replace the adviser,” he said. “It is to give the adviser faster access to the information needed for each client.”

That distinction matters in wealth management, where recommendations depend on suitability, context and trust. Technology can prepare and organise the evidence while the adviser remains responsible for judgement and the client relationship.

Where Legacy Systems Break Down

Traditional platforms handle listed equities, bonds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) reasonably well. Alternative assets introduce less regular valuations, unstructured documents and inconsistent data. Older systems also tend to process information in batches, which limits real-time portfolio analysis.

Berik described the solution as a single intelligence layer across client data, market prices, trading records, research and risk. Social and macroeconomic information can also be incorporated where it is relevant. The value comes from linking these sources, rather than adding a stand-alone chatbot to each department.

A Modular Wealth Operating System

Investbanq positions its platform as an operating system for family offices, asset managers and banks. It covers know-your-client (KYC) checks, onboarding, portfolio management, analytics, customer relationship management (CRM) and client interaction. Firms can adopt selected modules without replacing every existing system at once.

The platform’s AI Studio Suite contains six co-pilots. The Document Co-Pilot extracts and organises information. The Adviser and Analyst Co-Pilots support portfolio and research work. The News Co-Pilot selects client-relevant developments, while AI CIO provides a conversational interface across the modules. A Personal Finance Mentor supplies client-facing guidance.

“Each co-pilot is built for a specific workflow problem,” Berik said. “Together they form the infrastructure through which the wealth manager can work.”

Technology and Modern Advice

Investbanq works primarily with family offices and small to mid-sized financial institutions. Its modular structure reflects a practical constraint: most firms need to improve selected processes while retaining parts of their existing technology stack.

The wider challenge is organisational. Better software will not by itself retain an heir who wants different investments, clearer communication or greater control. Firms need to align the technology with a proposition that recognises how the next generation expects to invest.

Berik closed with a direct message: “The wealth transfer is already under way. Firms need modern technology, but they also need modern wealth-management practices.”

At the Hubbis Investment Forum – Singapore 2026, Berik Yernazarov, Head of Investments at Investbanq, examined how artificial…

[14
45,49,48,133,131,132
post-931374","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-personal-finance","tag-business","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-finance","tag-personal-finance","tag-personalfinance
["GET
