INGLEWOOD, Calif. — After the Rams missed a field goal attempt and had another blocked in Monday night\u2019s 37-34 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills<\/a>, coach Sean McVay said Los Angeles will \u201cevaluate everything\u201d about the kicking unit.<\/p>\n

Rams kicker Harrison Mevis<\/a> missed a 50-yard field goal attempt wide left in the first quarter and had a 48-yard kick blocked in overtime that would have been the winner.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the kicking game, especially with our PAT, field goal, not even close to good enough,\u201d McVay said after the loss. \u201cIt cost us the game tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Rams have had three blocked field goal attempts since the start of last season, tied for the most in the NFL, according to ESPN Research. The Rams have had 81 missed or blocked kicks under McVay (since 2017, including playoffs), which is third most in the league.<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt like I hit it good,\u201d Mevis said. \u201cThat\u2019s all I can tell you. I mean, I hit it good, gave it a chance. I\u2019ll have to look.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the play before the blocked kick, the Rams faced a third-and-5 from the Buffalo 30. Rams running back Kyren Williams<\/a> was stopped for no gain on the play. After the game, McVay said he wished he had a better play call on third down.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sick that we came up short, and I\u2019ll be regretting kicking that and not having a better call to be able to go for it on third down and go to fourth or whatever it was,\u201d McVay said. \u201cAnd that\u2019s on me.\u201d<\/p>\n

McVay said, \u201cIt\u2019s been a while since I\u2019ve been this pissed after a game.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe go out there and we give the opportunity for our special teams to kind of go out there and get a field goal,\u201d said Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua<\/a>, who finished with 17 catches for 138 receiving yards and a touchdown. \u201cWe got to be able to execute, and if that\u2019s not what we wanted to do, we got to find a way to convert on the critical downs.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Rams fell to 2-3 despite Matthew Stafford<\/a> going 40-for-54 for 383 yards and three touchdowns.
