Good for Clarkson. And is that relevant? Well, it just means she can afford stuff.<\/p>\n

What kind of stuff? A $15,000 mechanical bird called Molly.<\/p>\n

Great! So has she got one? No.<\/p>\n

Whyever not? In Clarkson\u2019s version of events, she visited a Brooklyn<\/a> curiosity store, enquired about the bird and was treated like a Julia Roberts character.<\/p>\n

Erin Brockovich? Respect! No, Vivian Ward in Pretty Woman.<\/p>\n

They thought she was on a \u201cdate\u201d with Richard Gere? No! But you\u2019ll remember in the movie Roberts\u2019s character is snubbed in a bijou Beverly Hills boutique. Clarkson says the same happened to her at Art of Play, where when she inquired about Molly, a member of staff looked at her \u201cas if I couldn\u2019t afford it and was told he could find something comparable for me\u201d.<\/p>\n

So she had a makeover and returned triumphantly to the store, just like in the movie? That was 1990, dear \u2013 Clarkson reacted the modern way.<\/p>\n

Which is? She took to social media<\/a>. \u201cWow, dude. You\u2019re an idiot and just lost a huge sale,\u201d she posted on X, to her 8.8 million followers.<\/p>\n

What did Art of Play do? Took to social media too, of course.<\/p>\n

To apologise? Not really. \u201cImagine our surprise when our small local business was suddenly attacked by eight million people who have never visited our store,\u201d they said on Instagram<\/a>. They also said that Molly wasn\u2019t even for sale.<\/p>\n

Just a little misunderstanding, then, and all cleared up now? Hmm. \u201cSure, it wasn\u2019t for sale,\u201d said Clarkson. \u201cSo the whole conversation we had when I asked you if it was for sale whilst pointing to the price tag \u2026 didn\u2019t happen \u2026 Okay, cool. So you\u2019re not only rude, you\u2019re also a liar.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ouch! She goes on to say she loves and supports small businesses: \u201cI never blast people but you my friend were an exception. Your store is really cool. Unfortunately, you aren\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

No olive branch from Clarkson, then. What about the store? The Times reported that Art of Play said a worker told Clarkson that while Molly was not for sale, her \u201ctwin\u201d made by an artist in Seattle was, for $15,000. They say they\u2019ve reached out directly to try to clear the air. \u201cWe really do wish her the best and hope that someday we can all laugh about this misunderstanding.\u201d<\/p>\n

But we\u2019re already laughing. Snobby shop, celebrity strop, a pile-on and a very expensive bird called Molly. True, what\u2019s not to love?<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t say: \u201cShall we discuss the questionable sexual politics of Pretty Woman?\u201d<\/p>\n
