They added the work will be completed underground and will not require digging trenches in the neighbourhood.

Region officials said sanitary sewers “are underground pipes that carry wastewater from your home to a water resource recovery facility. Wastewater is created when water goes down a drain or toilet.”

Weather and other factors could cause delays and extend the timeline of the project beyond Nov. 30, project officials noted.

The work is being completed by Capital Sewer Services Inc. under contract to Peel Region. Working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Officials said area residents and businesses will be notified at least 24 hours in advance of any temporary wastewater service interruptions.

Last 30 Days: 54,781 Votes

All Time: 1,571,268 Votes

    310 VOTES
Will Mississauga ever get a subway?

During those periods, people “may smell odours, which will go away within a few hours,” project leaders said.

Traffic alert‼️
🚫No left turns from Old Carriage Rd to Dundas St W
📅 Oct 13 – Nov 30
⏲️ 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
👷Sanitary sewer improvements
ℹ️https://t.co/NY0jLAo4Q1@DipikaDamerla pic.twitter.com/O0tiL7omcu

— Peel Public Works (@PeelPublicWorks) October 12, 2026

Meanwhile, in southwest Mississauga, work crews are installing new sanitary sewers that will result in some closures in the coming weeks and months.

Starting Oct. 13, Avonhead Road will be closed to all through traffic at Royal Windsor Drive until Oct. 30, the region said.

Traffic on nearby Southdown Road and Royal Windsor Drive has also been impacted as the work has progressed.

“Peel Region has been installing new sanitary sewers along Southdown Road and Royal Windsor Drive.
