It seems there’s something unnatural appearing on some\u00a0SkyTrain maps.<\/p>\n
On certain Mark V cars (the new ones), a “Synthetic” station shows up, catching the attention of several people<\/a> over the last month<\/a> who’ve posted to social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n It’s always at the end of the line, announcing some last stop no one has ever heard of.<\/p>\n While some online have suggested it’s part of the Backrooms<\/a> world, or an error in the matrix, or\u00a0part of a sci-fi Harry Potter universe, others have suggested it’s a simple computer glitch.<\/p>\n Mark V train displays ‘Waterfront’ as ‘Synthetic’<\/a> According to TransLink, it’s the last folks who are correct, likely to the disappointment of some.<\/p>\n “The word ‘Synthetic’\u00a0appearing as a destination on some SkyTrain passenger information displays is the result of a minor software glitch affecting a small number of Mark V trains,” TransLink spokesperson Jawn Jang tells Vancouver Is Awesome.<\/p>\n The IT team are working on fixing it, but the bug persists, Jang adds.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the social media team has had a little fun with it, sharing a video of what awaits at Synthetic Station.<\/p>\n
