{"id":933072,"date":"2026-10-14T19:36:10","date_gmt":"2026-10-14T19:36:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/933072\/"},"modified":"2026-10-14T19:36:10","modified_gmt":"2026-10-14T19:36:10","slug":"montreal-man-gets-25-years-to-life-in-prison-for-killing-9-year-old-daughter-in-new-york","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/933072\/","title":{"rendered":"Montreal man gets 25 years to life in prison for killing 9-year-old daughter in New York"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This story was originally reported by Carly Newton and published in the Plattsburgh, N.Y., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressrepublican.com\/news\/frattolin-gets-25-years-to-life-in-prison-for-killing-daughter\/article_cf6c0dcd-fdbe-455a-b456-685c50897386.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Press-Republican<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ELIZABETHTOWN, N.Y. \u2014 Luciano Frattolin will serve the maximum sentence in prison for the murder of his nine-year-old daughter, Melina Frattolin, in July 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Melina was found dead in a shallow body of water off State Route 74 in the town of Ticonderoga, N.Y., on July 20, 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Frattolin, 46, of Montreal, was <a href=\"https:\/\/montrealgazette.com\/news\/local-crime\/luciano-frattolin-guilty-verdict-trial-new-york-melina\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">found guilty of second-degree murder<\/a> and concealment of a human corpse after a lengthy murder trial in Essex County Court in August.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Standing in the same court Wednesday morning, he was sentenced by Judge Tatiana Coffinger.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the second-degree murder charge, he received an indeterminate sentence of 25 years to life in prison, with the possibility of parole after 25 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the charge of concealment of a human corpse, Frattolin received a consecutive sentence of one to three years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>\t\tEditor\u2019s Picks\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Frattolin was represented by defence attorney Brian Pilatzke out of Warren County and Eric Weyand from the Essex County Public Defender\u2019s Office, who assisted with the case.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Essex County district attorney Michael Langey said he was satisfied with the sentences Frattolin received.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is the maximum you can get in New York. There is a murder in the first degree charge that this didn\u2019t fit. New York has a statute where if you kill certain types of people, it elevates it to murder first. Children aren\u2019t listed in those categories, so hopefully, as a result of this, maybe that can change,\u201d Langey told the media after the sentencing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBut the judge did give him the maximum; he can serve up to life, and hopefully the parole board doesn\u2019t parole him (after 25 years) and he does serve the rest of his life in prison.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This story will be updated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"This story was originally reported by Carly Newton and published in the Plattsburgh, N.Y., Press-Republican.
