posted to Health Canada<\/a> Wednesday, the following products from Farm Boy, L\u2019Anc\u00eatre and Life Smart have been recalled from the marketplace:<\/p>\nFarm Boy Organic Swiss Cheese \u2013 190 gFarm Boy Organic Medium Cheddar Cheese \u2013 200 gFarm Boy Organic Old Cheddar Cheese \u2013 200 g Farm Boy Organic Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese \u2013 200 g Farm Boy Organic 3-Year-Old Cheddar Cheese \u2013 195 g L\u2019Anc\u00eatre Organic Swiss Cheese \u2013 200 g L\u2019Anc\u00eatre Organic Cheddar Cheese – Shredded Old \u2013 2 kg L\u2019Anc\u00eatre Organic Mozza – Cheddar Shredded Cheese Blend \u2013 200 g L\u2019Anc\u00eatre Organic Mozzarella Cheese – Shredded Partially Skimmed \u2013 1 kg L\u2019Anc\u00eatre Organic Swiss Cheese – Shredded \u2013 1 kg L\u2019Anc\u00eatre Organic Cheddar Cheese – Shredded Medium – 2 kgLife Smart Organic Part Skim Mozzarella Cheese – 200 g<\/p>\n
\u201cThere have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products,\u201d the recall said.<\/p>\n
The federal agency advised customers to check if they are in possession of the recalled products and not consume, serve, use, sell or distribute them. Instead, customers are being asked to discard or return the recalled products to the location of purchase.<\/p>\n
\u201cFood contaminated with listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick,\u201d the recall notice said. \u201cSymptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.\u201d<\/p>\n
The notice also warned that pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are \u201cparticularly at risk.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAlthough infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth,\u201d the recall read. \u201cIn severe cases of illness, people may die.\u201d<\/p>\n
The recall was triggered due to test results by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and a food safety investigation is underway which could lead to more recalls, the notice said. The CFIA is also verifying that all recalled products are being removed from the marketplace.<\/p>\n
