Nicolas Cage is pulling out all the stops to keep his Malibu home in one piece.<\/p>\n
The \u201cLonglegs\u201d actor rushed to file three permits after a massive sinkhole formed outside his $10.5 million California beachfront property<\/a> on Sept. 8, Page Six can exclusively reveal.<\/p>\n Cage, 62, requested an emergency building permit with city officials, where he was granted permission to pack sandbags against the beach and the exterior of the home for both wave protection and to prevent further coastal erosion.<\/p>\n A massive sinkhole formed outside Nicolas Cage\u2019s Malibu, California home on Sept. 8. The residence is shown above in images captured on Oct. 10. CA Post<\/p>\n The sinkhole swallowed Cage\u2019s driveway, and has since wrapped around his $10.5 million beachfront home. CA Post<\/p>\n Records show additional permits were also approved for asphalt debris removal related to the sinkhole in preparation for shoring installation and excavation to collect soil samples.<\/p>\n All three were filed within days of the sinkhole forming.<\/p>\n The chasm was initially reported to be 30 feet by 30 feet, but has since grown in size to the point where it has now wrapped around the side of Cage\u2019s home<\/a> and right up to the front door.<\/p>\n Images from the scene showed the hole swallowed Cage\u2019s driveway, a construction site portable toilet, ladders and parts of a privacy fence.<\/p>\n After the sinkhole developed, shown above, Cage received approval from city officials to pack sandbags against the beach and the exterior of the home for both wave protection and to prevent further coastal erosion, Page Six can reveal. CA Post<\/p>\n The City of Malibu has since ordered residents in the area to evacuate due to lack of access for emergency response teams like fire and sheriff. Firefighters did respond to the area to address a gas leak.<\/p>\n Cage, who resides mostly in Nevada, was not believed to be inside the home at the time of the incident. Cage\u2019s reps did not respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n
