A fire closed lanes on the Don Valley Parkway in Toronto Wednesday night and into Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

Emergency crews responded to an active fire in an abandoned building in the Matilda Street and Munro Street area at 9:37 p.m. on Oct. 14, Toronto Police said on X.<\/p>\n

Toronto Fire said the three-alarm fire was in the Don Valley Parkway and Queen Street East area.<\/p>\n

Video from Toronto Fire shows flames and smoke billowing from the building.<\/p>\n

As of 6:30 a.m., the fire was extinguished but crews and investigators remain on scene, Toronto Fire said.<\/p>\n

Paramedics told reporters that one police officer was taken to hospital with minor smoke inhalation.<\/p>\n

Several roads were closed as crews battled the blaze, including northbound lanes of the Don Valley Parkway from Lakeshore Boulevard, Jarvis Street, Munro Street and Davies Street.<\/p>\n

As of 6 a.m., one northbound lane of the Don Valley Parkway was closed, and the Queen Street on-ramp to the northbound Don Valley Parkway was closed. All other roads had reopened.<\/p>\n

The building was reportedly once a jam factory, live event space and a coffee company but has been vacant for many years.<\/p>\n
