Coronation Street’s Todd Grimshaw gives evidence at Sarah Platt’s murder trial<\/a> in tonight’s episode \u2013 but soon fears that he’s done more harm than good.<\/p>\n

Todd is a key witness in the case and hopes that his recollections of Theo Silverton’s abusive behaviour will support Sarah’s self-defence argument. But with the stakes so high, Todd struggles under the pressure\u2026<\/p>\n

Thursday’s episode begins with Todd deliberately avoiding the courtroom, as he dreads speaking about his domestic abuse ordeal in such a public setting.<\/p>\n

Tyrone Dobbs steps in to help Todd see the situation differently, arguing that he owes it to himself and Sarah to tell the truth.<\/p>\n

As Tyrone has his own experiences with an abusive partner, Todd listens to what he has to say and nervously heads to court after all.<\/p>\n

When his big moment arrives, Todd speaks honestly about Theo’s true nature and how this explains why Sarah would have feared for her life in their horrifying final showdown.<\/p>\n

However, the prosecution barrister soon bombards Todd with difficult questions and highlights how his loyalty to Sarah could be clouding his judgement.<\/p>\n

With Todd stumbling over his words and appearing rattled, is he starting to make Sarah’s situation even worse?<\/p>\n

Gareth Pierce, who plays Todd, previously told us<\/a>: “There’s quite a few of us, when it was unclear who had done it, who were potentially in the frame \u2013 and I suppose are now potentially witnesses for that evening and what happened.<\/p>\n

“[They’re also] witnesses for the character that Theo was in the lead-up to it. That will form a big part of Sarah’s defence \u2013 that it was an act of self-defence.”<\/p>\n

After Todd’s troubles in court, Sarah’s daughter Bethany makes another plea to Kit Green to step up and help his ex-partner. Will he come to Sarah’s rescue at the eleventh hour?<\/p>\n
