Trillium Health Partners, which oversees Mississauga and Credit Valley hospitals in addition to Queensway Health Centre in Etobicoke, just steps east of Mississauga, is hosting two open houses next week to give visitors \u201ca full-scale, real-life preview\u201d of the future hospital.<\/p>\n
The Oct. 20 and Oct. 24 open houses are being held at the Trillium HealthWorks Experience Centre, a site just west of Dixie Road that features a full-scale mockup of hospital rooms and other parts of what will comprise Mississauga\u2019s new hospital.<\/p>\n
The Oct. 20 open house runs from 5-8 p.m. while the Oct. 24 open house is scheduled from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The Trillium HealthWorks Experience Centre is located at 1225 Dundas St. E.<\/p>\n

Beyond next week, Trillium Health Partners is hosting another public engagement event later in the fall. The community\u00a0is invited to attend a virtual town hall<\/a> taking place Nov. 19 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n \u201cConstruction is well underway for The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital and Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children, and we want to keep (the community) informed and involved as we move forward,\u201d hospital officials said this week, adding that over the next 20 years, \u201cno hospital in Ontario will need more services than Trillium Health Partners.\u201d<\/p>\n When completed, The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital will be roughly three times the size of the current hospital, which first opened at the southwest corner of Hurontario Street and The Queensway West in 1958.<\/p>\n Last 30 Days: 56,794 Votes<\/p>\n All Time: 1,574,658 Votes<\/p>\n 2374 VOTES Construction began on the new Mississauga hospital in June 2025<\/a> and this past June the first concrete was poured<\/a>.<\/p>\n $1-billion fundraising campaign<\/p>\n Last week, the Trillium Health Partners Foundation announced the launch of the largest fundraising initiative in its history.<\/p>\n The $1-billion Built for Us campaign will \u201csupport the delivery of faster, more specialized care closer to home and a health system built around the people who rely on it,\u201d the foundation said.<\/p>\n Specifically, the campaign will support:<\/p>\n The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital, a $13.9-billion \u201cstate-of-the-art\u201d health-care centre that will rise up 22 storeys on the same site as the current Mississauga Hospital. Trillium Health Partners Foundation raises funds to support \u201cthe highest-priority needs\u201d of Trillium Health Partners.<\/p>\n The foundation said its Built for Us campaign \u201cbuilds on historic investments\u201d from the Ontario government \u2014 which is paying 75 to 85 per cent of the cost of the new hospital \u2014 and City of Mississauga, \u201ctogether with transformational support from donors to advance one of the most significant health-care transformations underway in Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n New hospital will have 950 patient beds<\/p>\n When it opens to patients and the broader community in 2034, The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital<\/a>\u00a0will feature, among other things, 950 patient beds (100 per cent private rooms), a new emergency department to be three times the size of the current ER and nine new and 14 enhanced state-of-the-art operating rooms, which will increase surgical capacity and reduce wait times across the region, officials noted.\u00a0<\/p>\n The City of Mississauga is contributing $390 million<\/a> to the cost of the new $13.9-billion hospital. Infrastructure Ontario is in charge of the project.<\/p>\n Developer\/philanthropist Peter Gilgan, for whom the hospital is named, contribued $105 million to the new health-care centre in 2022<\/a>. At the time, the donation was the largest-ever financial gift \u00a0to a hospital in Canadian history<\/p>\n

\nRedevelopment of The Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre, which will more than double the number of beds at that facility. \u201cFor patients and families, that means greater local access to emergency, medical imaging, rehabilitation and specialized services, expanded care for women and children, and a more connected, proactive health system that supports people at every stage of life,\u201d THP foundation officials said.<\/p>\n
