I live in Springdale, which is why I chose to run as a school trustee for Wards 9 and 10. I know this community, its schools and the families who call it home, and I want to help ensure their voices are heard and students receive the support they need in the classroom.

How long have you lived in Brampton?

I’ve lived here 12 years. I was born and raised in Toronto, and moved to Brampton after getting married.

What is your previous political experience?

I have no previous political or elected experience. This is my first time running for public office. My experience comes from being an engaged parent and former school council co-chair, as well as from my professional career working with municipalities and government partners. In my current role, success depends on listening to people, understanding their concerns, asking the right questions and working collaboratively to find practical solutions. These are the same skills I would bring to the role of trustee.

What are your priorities if elected?

My priorities are putting students first, improving transparency and communication, and ensuring families and communities have a meaningful voice in decisions that affect their schools. I want to see resources reach classrooms and students who need them, including students with additional needs, and I will advocate for appropriate supports, staffing and learning environments.

I also believe we need to look carefully at the balance between technology and traditional learning. Technology has a place in education, but it should not replace fundamental skills and meaningful learning experiences. I would support greater opportunities for students to read physical books, practise handwriting and pen-and-paper work, and develop strong foundational skills without relying so heavily on screens and technology-based resources.

I want to strengthen communication between the board, schools, families and school councils, particularly for our diverse communities. Trustees should ask questions, explain decisions and measure whether policies are actually achieving the outcomes they were intended to achieve.

What is your contact information?

Parneet Dhothar

No responses were provided.

Dharmavir Gohil is a Peel District School Board trustee candidate in Brampton Wards 9 and 10.

                                    Dharmavir Gohil photo

Dharmavir Gohil

I am the owner of a driving school and an MTO-certified driving instructor, a role I have held since 2003. I am also actively involved in community service and philanthropy, including supporting hospitals and charitable initiatives.

Do you live in the ward you are running in (Wards 9 or 10)?

Yes. I have lived in Ward 10 since 2005 and have been an active member of the community for many years.

How long have you lived in Brampton?

I have lived in Brampton since 2005. Over the years, I have developed strong connections within the community and have remained committed to serving local residents.

What is your previous political experience?

I previously ran as a candidate for Brampton city council in Wards 9 and 10 in 2018. Since then, I have continued to contribute to municipal, provincial and federal election campaigns, working in various roles including strategy, organization and volunteer support.

What are your priorities if elected?

My priorities are focused on creating a safe, supportive and high-quality learning environment for every student. My key priorities include:

Safer schools: ensuring students have safe and welcoming learning environments.Stronger education: supporting academic excellence and better opportunities for students.Safer school zones: improving safety around schools for students, parents, pedestrians and school staff.Drug-free schools: supporting prevention, education, awareness, and a safe environment free from illegal drugs and substance-related risks.

My goal is to be a strong voice for students, parents, teachers and the community, and to work collaboratively to build a better future for our children.

What is your contact information?

Therese Guidolin is a trustee candidate for the Peel District School Board in Brampton Wards 9 and 10.

                                    Therese Guidolin photo

Therese Guidolin

What is your occupation?

Co-ordinator of EmpowHER and The Youth 2 Action Program. I’ve worked with youth 13 to 29 for over eight years.

My program’s mandate is to assist youth in developing soft and transferable skills through civic engagement projects. This will prepare them to have the knowledge necessary to be more competitive in their academic and career endeavours.

Do you live in the ward you are running in (Wards 9 or 10)?

Yes, I live in wards 9/10 for 30-plus years.

How long have you lived in Brampton?

What is your previous political experience?

I am involved in training youth in civic action and engagement; therefore, I am often with elected representatives as my programs provide volunteers for any community project where kids can be involved in civic engagement.

What are your priorities if elected?

The province has taken away a lot of important responsibilities that the trustee does, so my initial reason was to advocate for more permanent teachers as young people complain a lot about this issue of having too many supply teachers. I believe that trust is important when a child is in school. Building positive relationships with teachers is important in a child’s mental, physical and emotional health.

My second is reviewing how we advise children of their future careers. I run an online career exploration fair that teaches hundreds of young people across Ontario yearly. This free virtual event has mentors from all employment sectors talking about their journey to better assist young people to make more knowledgeable decisions for their future. I would like to expand this so that more young people have access to it.

My third goal is to advocate for the return of decision-making powers that the trustee once held. I believe in the division of power and how healthier this is for young people. I think the trustee position must have some type of prerequisite like experience in working with youth either through work or volunteer opportunities.

What is your contact information?

Muhammad Misbahul Haque

No responses were provided.

Harsimran Singh

No responses were provided.

Pankaj Joshi is a trustee candidate for the Peel District School Board in Brampton Wards 9 and 10.

                                    Pankaj Joshi photo

Pankaj Joshi

What is your occupation?

Broker of record at Summit Realty Experts Inc.

Do you live in the ward you are running in (Wards 9 or 10)?

Yes, for the last 22 years.

How long have you lived in Brampton?

What is your previous political experience?

What are your priorities if elected?

My goal is to make Brampton schools recognized across Ontario for strong educational standards, student achievement, safety and a positive learning environment.

I will advocate for free transportation for Grade 11 and 12 students who choose to participate in various streams of the Regional Learning Choices Program (RLCP). If free bussing is available for students up to Grade 10, why should students in grades 11 and 12 be excluded?

I will also advocate for making higher education more affordable by working toward restoring the provincial portion of OSAP from 25 per cent to 85 per cent, helping more students pursue college and university without facing overwhelming financial barriers.

Student safety and well-being must remain a priority. I will work to find practical solutions to curb bullying and address the easy availability of vaping products and drugs in and around schools.

I will promote a culture of respect — respect for teachers, parents, classmates, school staff and neighbours. A respectful environment helps students learn, grow and become responsible citizens.

Finally, I believe parents must be active partners in their children’s education and development. Strong co-operation among parents, teachers, schools and the community can help every child reach their full potential and build a stronger future for Brampton.

What is your contact information?

Mily Michael Macwan

No responses were provided.

Khushpal Singh Pawar is a trustee candidate for the Peel District School Board in Brampton Wards 9 and 10.

                                    Khushpal Singh Pawar campaign photo

Khushpal Singh Pawar

What is your occupation?

My professional background spans urban planning, education, government and community development. I have worked as a student planner with Weston Consulting, gaining experience in land-use planning and development across the Greater Toronto Area.

I am also the co-founder and executive director of Elevate Performing Arts Organization, a Peel-based organization focused on creating opportunities for youth through arts, culture and community programming.

Previously, I have worked in both municipal and provincial government, giving me experience in public policy, community engagement and navigating government systems.

I hold an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Toronto and studied Urban Development in the Master of Planning program at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Do you live in the ward you are running in (Wards 9 or 10)?

Yes. I live in the community I am seeking to represent in Wards 9 and 10.

How long have you lived in Brampton?

I was raised in Brampton and currently live here. I grew up attending Peel schools, including Lougheed Middle School and Harold M. Brathwaite Secondary School, and my connection to our public education system began as a student here.

Brampton is the community that raised me, educated me and gave me many of the opportunities that shaped who I am today. It is also where I have continued to work with young people, families and community organizations.

What is your previous political experience?

My involvement in public education began while I was still a student. In 2017, I was elected as the Peel District School Board student trustee for North Peel, where I represented students at the board table and gained experience with the decisions that shape our schools.

Since then, I have gained professional experience in both municipal and provincial government, including working at Brampton City Hall, while remaining actively involved in our community.

Almost a decade after first representing Peel students, I am seeking to return to the board table with a much broader perspective. I understand our education system as a former Peel student, former student trustee, school board employee and community advocate.

What are your priorities if elected?

My priorities are safer and healthier schools, stronger communication and accountability to families, expanded extracurricular and student enrichment opportunities, and fighting for Peel’s fair share of education funding.

A trustee who answers to you: Parents deserve a trustee who is accessible, responsive and accountable to the community they represent. I want to improve communication between families, schools and the board, ensure concerns are addressed in a timely way, and create more opportunities for parents and students to have a meaningful voice in decisions.Safe, healthy schools: Every student deserves to feel safe and supported at school. I will work with students, families, educators and administrators to address bullying, drugs, violence and mental-health challenges, while strengthening prevention, intervention and student supports.Extracurriculars and student enrichment: Education extends beyond the classroom. I want to expand access to sports, arts, clubs, leadership programs, mentorship and community partnerships so that every student has opportunities to discover their interests and build confidence.Fighting for Peel’s fair share: Peel’s rapidly growing schools need adequate provincial funding, staffing, classroom resources and special-education supports. I will advocate strongly for fair funding so educators have the tools they need and students receive the supports they deserve.

What is your contact information?

Gurinder Sehgal

No responses were provided.

Gagandeep Sharma

No responses were provided.

A dozen candidates are running for Peel District School Board (PDSB) trustee in Brampton Wards 9 and 10.…

[194339
51759,49,48
post-934000","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-brampton","tag-brampton","tag-ca","tag-canada
["GET
