{"id":934068,"date":"2026-10-15T15:00:20","date_gmt":"2026-10-15T15:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/934068\/"},"modified":"2026-10-15T15:00:20","modified_gmt":"2026-10-15T15:00:20","slug":"video-captures-waterspout-on-georgian-bay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/934068\/","title":{"rendered":"Video captures waterspout on Georgian Bay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Northern Tornadoes Project validates reports of waterspout, estimating minimum winds of 90 km\/h<\/p>\n<p>CHRISTIAN ISLAND &#8211; A waterspout spotted over Georgian Bay near Christian Island last week has been confirmed by the Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP).<\/p>\n<p>Referred to by the NTP as a tornado (over water), the waterspout occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 9. It was captured in photos and video by witnesses.<\/p>\n<p>The NTP, based at Western University, confirmed the event and assigned it an EF0-Default rating, the lowest rating on the Enhanced Fujita Scale. This indicates it met a minimum wind-speed qualification of 90 kilometres per hour. No damage was reported.<\/p>\n<p>Capt. Derek Manitowabi of Beausoleil Fire and Emergency Services shared a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/reel\/1434894035270138\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">video of the waterspout<\/a> on social media.
