When LeBron James announced he was leaving the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a>, many Golden State Warriors<\/a> fans were hopeful he’d end up in the Bay Area.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It’s unfortunate it didn’t happen for the Warriors, as they need talent on both ends of the floor.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Not that James still is the same player that he has been throughout a lot of his career, there’s a strong argument to be made that he’s the greatest of all time, but he’s still above average and the Warriors could use that.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With his existing relationship with Stephen Curry, there was a lot of hope that he was eventually going to end up in Golden State.<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters about what their conversations looked like throughout a lot of this, Curry made it known that both of them have a great friendship, and he thought there was a conversation. However, he said that James wanted to do his own thing in terms of taking time to make his decision, and he felt that he deserved that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought there was a conversation,\u201d Curry said<\/a>, per HoopsHype. \u201cAnd if there was ever some momentum, it would be known based on the profile LeBron has. And if he picks up the phone and says, \u2018Hey, what\u2019s going on out there?\u2019 or vice versa, and I pick up the phone and say, \u2018Hey, what\u2019s on your mind?\u2019 that would be in the conversation for a guy like that who\u2019s picking his landing spot.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut as you know, the way he went about it, taking his time and being patient, and the surprise of Philly, kind of, he was going to run his own journey that way,\u201d the Warriors guard added. \u201cAnd he deserves to do that, and as a friend an Olympic teammate and all that, I\u2019m happy for him that he found somewhere he wants to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

The relationship between Curry and James was hopefully going to be the deciding factor in him going to Golden State, at least that’s what many reports had indicated prior to him making this decision.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, many other basketball decisions had to be made. It’s also possible James didn’t want to join a franchise that kept him from winning even more rings than he has throughout his career.<\/p>\n
