Supreme Court in New Westminster Friday after hearing from a final witness.

It is not yet known if Mann, who is accused of stabbing and killing Surrey’s Tori Dunn in June of 2024 in the Port Kells home she shared with boyfriend Trafford Wace, will testify.

Crown counsel Tim Livingston questioned RCMP Sgt. Evelyn Hui, a forensic identification specialist who works at RCMP E-Division headquarters in Surrey’s Green Timbers area, about her process when she examined three exhibits to test for blood: a grey hoodie, a black toque, and a pair of shoes.

Hui explained to the court how evidence is gathered and stored in secure lockers, and how she always follows the same standards of practice each time, starting with cleaning the examination table before lining it with several sheets of craft paper.

“After that, I also wipe down all the equipment I would need to examine the exam … rulers, markers, my two cameras — a visual camera and infrared camera — and pens and any other marking (tools), and put (them) down on another piece of craft paper, so I can have access,” she said.

She also double-gloves before handling each exhibit, she noted, and wears a face mask as well as arm sleeves, which are made of material similar to the “bunny suits” forensic techs might wear in the field.

All of her equipment and tools are cleaned in between examining different exhibits, Hui shared, in addition to her donning a fresh, double pair of gloves and fresh craft paper on the examination table.

One of the tools she uses to test stains is a hemastix test — a presumptive test for blood, where Q-tips, sterile water and special strips that are yellow at the end; the yellow will turn to green for anything that is positive for blood, she said. If something tests positive, she will mark the evidence with an H+, Hui said.

The hoodie was tested with a hemastix test and one of the areas — the right sleeve of the hoodie — tested positive for blood, Hui confirmed.

Defence lawyer Paul McMurray asked Hui whether she found any evidence of blood on the shoes or toque. She answered that she did not.

“As a general proposition (in a stabbing case), would you have expected to find more evidence of blood stains?” he asked.

“No, not necessarily … (a stabbing) is a very dynamic event,” Hui said. “Some scenes might not have a lot of blood … it depends on the injury.”

The Crown rested its case prior to an early morning break.

The trial will resume Monday (Oct. 19).

Crown rests its case in Surrey 2nd-degree murder trial for Adam Mann Published 2:27 pm Friday, October 16,…

[194299
903,49,48,163792,87674
post-935752","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-surrey","tag-british-columbia","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-lower-mainland","tag-surrey
["GET
