While the town was originally named after the Roman god of fire, the town has leaned into its connection to the sci-fi franchise, with a replica starship, a statue of Spock, and other space-themed attractions. It\u2019s about an hour and a half from Calgary, making it a pretty unique day trip option.<\/p>\n<p>Drumheller<br \/>\n<img alt=\"\" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1365\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2303073\" style=\"color:transparent\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/MixCollage-17-Aug-2026-11-36-AM-1641.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2303073\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Travel Alberta<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhive.com\/calgary\/alberta-unique-towns-drumheller\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Drumheller is one of the most unique towns<\/a> in the province, and for good reason. The town is right in the middle of the Badlands, surrounded by unusual rock formations and dinosaur attractions. It\u2019s home to the Bomber Command Museum of Canada, where visitors can check out historic aircraft and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhive.com\/calgary\/nanton-alberta-rare-plane-museum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">view a plane that is one of 17 left in the world.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Crowsnest Pass<br \/>\n<img alt=\"unique near calgary\" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1365\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"wp-image-2256682 size-full\" style=\"color:transparent\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Shutterstock_1156033969.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2256682\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nalidsa\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>Crowsnest Pass is worth a visit if you\u2019re looking for a mountain getaway with some history behind it. One of the area\u2019s best-known attractions is the Frank Slide, where a massive rockslide buried part of the mining town of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhive.com\/calgary\/frank-slide-alberta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Frank in 1903<\/a>.
