Toronto FC (8W-10L-12T, 36 points) extended their unbeaten run to three matches with a 2-0 road victory over Red Bull New York (10W-14L-6T, 36 points) on Saturday evening, courtesy of a Justin Che own goal and D\u00e1niel Sall\u00f3i\u2019s second-half strike at Sports Illustrated Stadium.<\/p>\n
Toronto FC Head Coach Robin Fraser made four changes from Wednesday\u2019s starters against Orlando City SC with Richie Laryea, Benjam\u00edn Kuscevic, Alonso Coello and D\u00e1niel Sall\u00f3i making way for Kobe Franklin, Nicksoen Gomis, Jonathan Osorio and Djordje Mihailovic.<\/p>\n
The Reds took an early lead in the third minute when Niklas Dorsch played Theo Corbeanu into space on the right, with the winger\u2019s dangerous delivery into the box turned into his own net by Red Bull New York defender Justin Che.<\/p>\n
The visitors were forced into an early substitution in the 28th minute, as Kobe Franklin was forced off with a shoulder injury and replaced by Jackson Gilman.<\/p>\n
Former TFC captain and current Red Bull New York Head Coach Michael Bradley introduced Emil Forsberg and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting at the start of the second half, before bringing on former Red Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty in the 60th minute.<\/p>\n
Eight minutes later, Toronto FC made a double substitution of their own, introducing D\u00e1niel Sall\u00f3i and Derrick Etienne Jr. for Djordje Mihailovic and Theo Corbeanu.<\/p>\n
The Reds doubled their advantage late when Jonathan Osorio made an important intervention to clear Emil Forsberg\u2019s out-swinging corner, before releasing D\u00e1niel Sall\u00f3i on the counter. The Hungarian attacker carried the ball from his own half and raced through on goal before finishing emphatically past RBNY goalkeeper Ethan Horvath to make it 2-0.<\/p>\n
The 82nd minute strike, scored just 14 seconds after Forsberg\u2019s corner at the other end, marked a team-leading eighth goal and 18th goal contribution of the season for Sall\u00f3i, while the club captain Osorio recorded his 60th MLS assist for Toronto FC.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Toronto FC\u2019s defensive resilience stood firm throughout the closing stages to secure an important 2-0 victory and record the club\u2019s fourth clean sheet of the 2026 MLS regular season. The road win rounded out TFC\u2019s three-game week with two wins and a draw, while also marking the club\u2019s first away victory against Red Bull New York since March 6, 2016.<\/p>\n
