Elliot Jamieson is back on the podium at enduro world championships. One year after finishing third, the Canadian national champion moved up a spot to finish second on Sunday’s 2026 race in Finale Ligure.

Jamieson wasn’t the only rider on a podium, either. Vancouver Island’s Nolan Weiss landed world championships medal in the junior men’s race in Finale.

Elite men: Jamieson climbs to third

In the elite men’s race, Ryan Gilchrist took a lead on the first timed stage and never looked back. While that was the only stage Gilchrist won, the 14-minute marathon stage gave the Australian enough of an advantage that clean racing the rest of the day earned him the championship. In fact, on an unpredictable day in Finale, none of the men’s podium finishers won more than a single race stage.

For White Rock, B.C.’s Elliot Jamieson, it was the fifth stage, another epic stage approaching 10 minutes in length including one short but brutal sprint climb, that proved decisive. With a win on stage five, Jamieson leapt ahead of defending 2025 champion, Richie Rude, in the standings. Jamieson held on to that advantage, even after Rude won the sixth and final stage, to stay ahead of the U.S. racer by 0.265 seconds overall.

For Jamieson, that’s a move one step up on the world championship podium. The Canadian finished third behind Rude in 2025. It’s his third world championship podium, after scoring a downhill world championship medal as a junior.

Adding to the Canadian results is Loick Hudon, with a big day out in ninth. Like Jamieson, Hudon used a solid result on stage 5 to leap up the standings. Turns out Canadians can go uphill, just not at Hardline.

Lief Rodgers followed in 11th with Priority teammate Evan Wall in 43rd.

Elite Men: Richter takes her win

In the elite women’s race, it was Raphaela Richter taking home the rainbow jersey. With two stage wins and consistent racing all day, the German win her first enduro world championships title.

Isabeau Courdurier made an impressive return to racing, vaulting past Nadine Ellecosta on the sixth and final stage to take second overall.

Defending world champion, Canada’s Elly Hoskin, had some solid stages but couldn’t repeat her win from 2025. Hoskin finishes seventh on the day.

AGR Racing’s Hannah Gillcrist posted another big result for Canada, finishing 12th. Geza Rodgers followed in 17th.

Junior racing: Nolan Weiss adds another medal for Canada

In the junior racing, Cumberland, B.C.’s Nolan Weiss put Canada back on the podium. While France’s Hugo Montessinos walked away with the win, winning three of six stages, Weiss and France’s Jules Janniaud were locked in a battle all day. Weiss claimed a stage win on the sixth and final stage, but couldn’t quite pull past Janniaud. The Canadian finishes third, 0.191 seconds behind the French junior after 38 minutes of timed descending.

Andy Hudon followed in 18th for Canada, Luka Markon 38th and Ludovic Laliberte 39th.

In the junior women’s race Nežka Libnik takes the world championship title for Slovenia. The U.S.A.’s Daisy James follows in second with Chloe Cres Clement adding another medal for France.

Keely Bathurst takes 10th for Canada with Tegan Smith following close behind in 12th.

World championships wraps up a roller coaster of a season for the international enduro scene. After organisers announced the World Cup would not continue in 2027, riders are now looking for a fresh start, including possibly a series put on by the Crankworx organization, for next year’s season.

Elliot Jamieson is back on the podium at enduro world championships.
