President Donald Trump\u2019s approval rating has hit a record low as his party faces a reckoning<\/a> with voters just 16 days before Election Day<\/a>, new polls show.<\/p>\n

A Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos survey<\/a> released Sunday shows 33% of U.S. adults approve of Trump\u2019s job performance, with 66% disapproving and 52% strongly disapproving. That represents a drop of four percentage points from July and eight points from this time last year \u2014 an all-time low in this polling.<\/p>\n

As MS NOW\u2019s Elections & Analytics team<\/a> has noted, Trump\u2019s approval rating has hovered below 40% for months in most surveys, signaling a politically perilous environment for Republicans.<\/p>\n

Democrats\u2019 fortunes are rising in the final stretch to the Nov. 3 midterm elections as they seek to regain control of Congress.<\/p>\n

The poll, conducted Oct. 9-13, shows 52% of likely voters said they would vote for a Democratic candidate in their congressional district while 44% said they would choose a Republican. That\u2019s a 5-point gain from the same poll conducted in July.<\/p>\n
