Don\u2019t let others regulate what news you see.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nBookmark bayshorebroadcasting.ca to ensure you always have a direct connection to your trusted source for local news and information.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/pumpkindrop.jpg\" class=\"header-image\" alt=\"Big Pumpkin Drop Sunday In Port Elgin\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pumpkin Drop 2024 Photo by Claire McCormack<\/p>\n<p>The Port Elgin Pumpkin fun isn\u2019t quite over yet.<\/p>\n<p>A big pumpkin drop is set to go Sunday at noon behind the Saugeen Shores Community church (old arena) at Green and Hilker streets.<\/p>\n<p>Pumpkins weighing hundreds of pounds each, donated by growers who don\u2019t feel the need to cart them home, will be dropped by a 70 ft crane, for the fun of seeing them smash open.<\/p>\n<p>The event, which has been going on for at least a decade, is raising money this year for school supplies for local kids.<\/p>\n<p>Crowds can gather around a fenced off area and watch the crane drop the massive pumpkins onto an old piano and other objects.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, they were dropped onto an old hot tub and a car beyond repair.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s also a candy drop.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&#13; &#13; Support local journalism!
