Last week, Drake<\/a> was sued<\/a> by producer Aviel Hirschfield, who claimed that the rapper stole the now-iconic chorus to his Iceman hit \u201cJanice STFU\u201d from the producer\u2019s demo \u2014 a claim that Drizzy\u2019s team vehemently denies, saying that the Canadian star wrote the whole thing himself.<\/p>\n

Hirschfield says that in January 2026, he took a beat from the producing duo FnZ and, with Drake in mind, laid down vocals over it, inspired by the experience of hearing Lykke Li\u2019s \u201cI Follow Rivers\u201d while riding in a (borrowed) Maybach. Per the complaint, he sent the track to FnZ.<\/p>\n

That recording, which interpolates the chorus of Lykke Li\u2019s song, contained a section that is essentially identical to the chorus of \u201cJanice STFU,\u201d which was produced by FnZ. But Hirschfield was not credited on the completed song. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe immense success of Janice STFU is due principally to the song\u2019s chorus, which is a literal, word-for-word, note-for-note taking\u201d of Hirschfield\u2019s chorus, the lawsuit reads.<\/p>\n

Drake, through his rep, shut down Hirschfield\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n

\u201cDrake wrote this song and has no connection or knowledge of this person, full stop,\u201d the rep said, going on to say that there is \u201cnot one iota of truth to these accusations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hirschfield\u2019s complaint claims that he still has the original files from his recording, with metadata, including dates, intact \u2014 information he says he already presented to Drizzy\u2019s team, who still \u201crefuse to acknowledge [his] authorship.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, you can judge for yourself. Below, made public as part of the evidence in the case, is Hirschfield\u2019s original demo (which, again, he says he recorded in January, 2026). His chorus starts at the 45-second mark. For reference, \u201cJanice STFU\u201d follows.<\/p>\n

\u201cJanice STFU\u201d is a huge hit. It is Drizzy\u2019s first multi-week Billboard No. 1 single in nearly a decade<\/a>, since 2018\u2019s \u201cIn My Feelings.\u201d<\/p>\n
